Awaiting delivery of Blackstar 180w next week ...seedlings have been vegging under an underpowered LED UFO along w/ 4x42w daylight CFLs for the past 10 days ... They needed a better light.

My question for other users of this light is ... How high above the canopy to start with for 2 week old seedlings and how fast can I take it down to what height above the tops ...

Anybody know the true wattage of this light ?

Thanks for any and all input ... :bong:

Start it out about 16" above the plant tops and raise or lower it to maintain about 1" node spacing. Once they go into full flowering lower it to 10-12" and maintain that space throughout flowering.

Ok, thanks Muddy ... sounds pretty easy, I guess I'm just overthinking it ... :bong:

@Muddy. Would that also go for blackstar 240. :bong:

Here's the lil' boogers ... largest ( Front root pouch ) is 2 weeks old today and the others are 2-3 days behind ... Soil ph is 6.6 ... The Blackstar 180HO came today, fast shipping ... nice weight ... I've got six days to get this thing dialed in ... I'll post pics again in a little under a week and we'll see how they like the Blackstar ... if it gets crowded in there I'll have him cull the smallest and put it under the original UFO. It appears that the Blackstar puts out enough heat to keep the temps good in the box. Thanks again for the help.

Dark or Warm ??

Lights on it's a nice 70-80F in the box ... lights out 50-60F ... I recently switched to 20/4 and the inside box temps return to 70-80F w/in the first hour of lights on ... would it be better to skip the dark period to keep the temperature up ? The temp inside the room where the box is located stays between 50-60F both day and night. Would 24/7 hurt the plants once they begin to flower ?
Thanks for any and all advice ... :bong:

Well here they are after 5 days under the Blackstar 180HO ... nice light ... not as good as a DS100 but the plants liked it ... nodes were a little close so I moved the light up to the top at 20" ... height may become an issue ... these hatched 10/5-10/7 ... so they're about 17-19 days old. The two individual photos show 2 plants that are displaying some sort of deficiency, which they have shown since day one ... soil pH is 6.6 ...
