Lighting BlackStar The Manual

Well mate after looking at your journal I can see you keep everything in check, and once you switched to the hid things picked up nicely, which suggests the light, but I'm not techy enough to give an explanation why.im gonna read up on it though :bong: i know jtangs friend had similar probs with a similar spectrum too.if yr based in the states Cree and bridgelux should be available with a quick search on the net :smokebuds:

Nope, I'm in Europe... I was just kidding, with all the hassle and cost of buying LED having them swapped... might as well buy from a proper known brand and get to the point. Growing! :D

well thought i'd post my 2cents in on this since i am a blackstar user myself. i love the blackstar have only had experience with the 240w flowering model the none chrome one.i've done autos and photos under it and have been pretty impressed by it. had one auto give me 2.5 ozs while the other one i had in there with it gave me 1 but it was pretty shadowed by the big girl. did two Buddha tahoe ogs from cc and with a 42 day veg and one at 32 day vegged ended up with just over 3oz in a gl60 using only maxibloom and 100%perlite hempys. not near dialed in as i could be seeing it was my first ever photo grow. i just upgraded to a dr120 II pro and thinkin around feb beg of march going to grab a 720w chrome series or maybe 2 of the 405w ones not sure which yet. heres a pic of a durrty dragon girl that i had stunted and abused still ended up with a zip off her dd flush 001.jpg

I contacted them with intent of purchase... they're not answering! :finger:
Plus they're having a sell-off sale with great prices. I absolutely HATE it when I dont get an answer to my inquiries from a company. I know they're good, but how can I commit to buy if I dont even get an answer from them?

Anyways, I've kept on doing some research, and there are LOADS of lights out there with very high ratio of 630 over 660. Many of them even say 630 is better than 660. 630nm is also peak for chlorophyl C1... Apparently 630nm led are cheaper than 660, which obviously does factor in in the final production cost, but its not bad at all... in theory this spectrum I have is way better than HPS.

Anyways, got great healthy growth, will give it a few days and fire them up again as a final conclusive test if it was LED burn or not. Will report back

I think somethings wrong.
My bs 240uv doesn't shut off when everything else hooked up to my timer does. It just gets vet faint almost like dim moonlight. Could it be my timer or is it the bs?

If your timer shuts off your other equipment I'd say there's a fault on your LED mate :smoke:

Red Eye, thats just silly! :crying:

Its the timer, it must let through just enough juice to light up the LEDs. Unless the light generates its own electricity, now that would be something :)

I use a triple plug with with an on/off switch, and that does kill the lights completely... So its the circuit in the timers that are built in a way that some leccy pops through. I tried 2, one digital and one analog... both the same deal... barely visible, yet they do light up

w^ all...? My BS 240 does the same thing...since I got it I also have a Custom China Made one that does the same..I talked to the company in china about it they told me could be the timer...That I may need their timer which is incorporated in the cord..but I didnt get one tried many timers digitals and pins from $7 to 40..same result..A very dim light when the timer goes off..
Gotham said that they were exp that with some of the BS but it should be anything..tried same timers he sold too.
I also have the 6 spot Chrome and it has just a red dot in the lights but its still black at lights off..this one doesnt disturb the sleep cycle of the plants..
with the custom and the BS240 with photos I have to plug it out on sleep n plug it back in..
with autos I just leave it like it is...hasnt bothered them as far as I see..
I dont think its a faulty led think it has something to do with the electricity coming into the house maybe it spikes or Idkbut I did try the timer and BS at another house and it shut off for what I noticed...
