Lighting BlackStar The Manual

I got outta BlackStars because I just felt they weren't enough @ 2x 240w's, I feel now that a lot of the mistake was mine and I had my lights too close far too often. I sold both of them and wrote off LEDs.. but it looks like it was me and not the lights, haha. I'm hoping it's a bountiful tax season, but we'll see how that goes.. My wife usually lets me upgrade something come tax season, two of those 405s or two 720s would be so nice.. two 720s is just dreaming though, two 405s is much more realistic haha.

your wife let's you upgrade? awesome... I have to guilt mine into letting me spend my own money outside of bills LOL. She's in charge of spending what she considers "extra" income :D Hope it comes through for ya. I have had good luck with cheaper LED lights even. No telling what something like Blackstar could do if used properly. I'm playing with 400 inda-gro light with success, but no great test yet with MMJ... but seen all great reports.

hey yeah Im not sure which I like more the 240 or the 270...I like the quietness from the 270 have to look back at my grows to get the dl on them both but the 270 does perform well did both autos and photos good harvest with not too many probs...I stated earlier on this thread about my Leds..a blackstar a chrome and a custom not turning off all the way when timers goes off..well was just able to check by a vacationing friends house and by them it turns off all the way when timers goes off..So I was thinking it def has to do with the electricity coming into the house thats doing it...anyone with some electric background have a idea what it could be..? ground maybe short somewhere...
As I grabbed up my 240 to try by the other house..I noticed it looks like a led is either burnt or corroded.? strange havent used them since Oct...will get a pik up in a bit.

bd if you have a meter put it on the outlet and see if any current is coming through the ground? if so, your right! ground fault. in a timer switch, even
when off, the ground is still on for saftey. i also remember about a year ago, a member had current coming through the wire harness of his blackstar, everytime he touched the harness he got a mild shock, also a ground fault problem.

..a blackstar a chrome and a custom not turning off all the way when timers goes off..well was just able to check by a vacationing friends house and by them it turns off all the way when timers goes off..So I was thinking it def has to do with the electricity coming into the house thats doing it...anyone with some electric background have a idea what it could be..? ground maybe short somewhere...

Take a look at my post #3 in this thread and see if it works!

This would work good if both my sockets and cords stayed 2 prong instead of 2 and 3..lil bkgrnd..my house is getting 220v but have a transformer throughout the house to 110v....sockets in the house are 2 prong or eu type...with the us 3 prong adapter going into them...my timer is 110v 3 prong..now the other place I tried these light with also 110v transformed from 220 has about the same setup but I know a electrician has been over there earlier last year to fix things..thinking it has to do with this house...
now if i could get a 2 prong 110v timer then I might be able to try you advice...I do have a way of trying it without a timer will look for the stuff n get back to u on it though tnkx

Groff.. ok tried the switcharoo but cant..my sockets are EU 2 female n 1 male..did alot of tests bkuz of your idea..THNX!!1
Mind... the sockets in the wall are EU type...and I use a round adapter to give US type socket...
even without the timer blackstar plugged into a US powerstrip with US cord...when I turn off the powerstrip I can still see a dim light..this is how I use it normally.
So I just tried a EU powerstrip..and EU cord to the blackstar and turned the powerstrip off....all lights are off...great..
Tried EU extension cord into 3 diff US timers put timer off....stays dim...bad...same thing with US timer into EU powerstrip..
So maybe a EU timer to a US power strip...
or the best would be EU timer EU powerstrip and EU cords..but hard to find a EU timer here...plus one rated to do 110-240..next option is a electrician to change the sockets check the ground but I have been waiting for a good one for sooo long...

ohh yeah this dim thing does it with the custom led and the blackstar 240..the 270 chrome shuts off..

My typing is slow and my drawing is bad but here goes.

On the LEDs that have dim light when switch is off.
Somewhere along the way the switch ended up on the neutral wire instead of the hot wire. Some of the ways this could have happened are: black and white wires switched at breaker panel or wall outlet. Ground prong broke/cut off and pluged in up-side down.

What I described here is for US 120 volts with hot and neutral wire

Should be as simple as turning a plug over to fix.
Give it a try and report back.

sounds like the adapter is causing cross polarity you need a EU type plug on a US type socket/outlet
if you can find a electrical wholesaler tell them what you need they might be able to help
hope this helps
