Morning AFN, got a few pics from yesterday that I didn't get a chance to upload..after Tang pointed out the obvious I can tell I over did it slightly in the beginning, I've kept her at 0.8 EC and the spreading has stopped, new growth is happy and she looks like she can handle the 1.0 EC next res change (thursday).

I'll add a couple more pics from today later on this afternoon :peace:

Late for the show but sub'ed up! Where did I leave the damn popcorn..?. ahh, here it is! "Munch..munch..munch

Evening all, back for my daily update. So up until now I've been running both 30lpm air pumps with 4mm airline and a small airstone - this was to combat the problem of roots breaking off because of the high pressure. Today I've received a couple of 8mm t pieces so I've now only got one pump running, supplying air to both my BAM and P2 buckets. I also got a new airstone, made by hailea (same as the air pump) but when it arrived I noticed it says max 20lpm, I have this and my original diffuser hooked up to a single pump so theoretically there is now 15lpm of air being pushed through each res , which should be just enough. I will continue to roll this way unless I see any adverse effects in comparison to my first grow (slower growth, less height etc). Straight off the mark I'm going to reccomend the flat air stones, this is my first time setting one up and using it, seeing a side by side comparison to the cylindrical diffuser I originally purchased. The bubbles are much more evenly spread and it disturbs the water a lot less which the roots are going to love - I can tell..it's almost like putting your hand into frog spawn because there's so many tiny bubbles whereas you could feel the water being pushed around with my cylinder diffuser (having 15l compared to 30lpm helps combat this) so it's a win win right now..will keep you posted.

BAM is a lot happier with me after my initial f*** up, I'm constantly tucking leaves and she remains happy at 0.8EC; most likely until her next res change. Roots are developing well, definitely my best yet.

If you guys wana check the progress of the Dragon babies be sure to check out my other thread, they're coming along just swell :peace:

holy crap that a big airstone!! Pal, I stumbled onto something very cool. When I hooked up a second pump to fight root rot/slime, I (obviously) put another stone into each bucket. Is use one exactly like yours, but 8" wide. How big is that btw? Is the cylinder one a Boss Hog?

I set it so each stone was opposite to each other in the bucket. The resulting water flux vortex created (not seen, just bubbles flowing from the rims to the center) makes the roots stay dead center the bucket, and they kind of roll and entangle into themselves, creating a ball and not going so deep into the bucket. This is heaven for RDWC, but I also see it as a cool root training practice in regular DWC

Thats;

1x Charles Austen ET30 (30L/m) = 7,5L per stone
1x Haiulea 9820 (60L/m) = 15L per stone

= 22,5L per 20L bucket.

This is the result of a few weeks of the two stone thing.

I also notice you have an airpot with a DWC lid on in... what is up with that !?

don't mean to hijack the thread but HOLY CRAP! What a rootball! Is that just one plant?

That new airstone is 200mm, the cylinder diffuser is made by angel aqua - the alternative to boss hog in the uk. it's 230mm I believe..

That's really cool man, since this is my second dwc I've not experimented all that much but I can see the advantages of this already just from the pic..nice.

Haha, sorry to disappoint - I just placed the empty airpot there so I could rest the dragon baby whilst I fiddled with air stones..does look kinda funky :grin: Thanks for stopping by bro :peace:
