New Grower Blue Mystic First Grow

If you're at 1/2 strength now hold off a week before increasing ... if not I'd bump it up to 1/2 strength and see how they react ...

I'll keep this in mind for her next feeding. I'm trying to do organic grow. I started her in 2-2-2 soil. At around 2 weeks I top dressed her at 1/4-1/3 strength 3-4-6. That was last week. She's not due for another feeding until next week, but I've been supplementing with compost teas. Last watering I used EWC/Molasses and this very next watering will be an insect frass tea. I'm thinking I'll go 1/2 strength 3-4-6 at her next top dress in a week or so. How does this plan sound?

I brewed up some compost tea and gave her a half gallon. This time at the beginning of her light cycle. It's been a few hours and her leaves have perked up significantly. I also started some light LST on three lower branches. Here are some new pics. Let me know what you think.

did I read right? only 3 weeks old ? if I did you should be giving her more n in her diet, a base fert of something like 7-2-2 , 6-4-4 or there abouts. a little young for the high p and k. you can also use a airstone/pump in your water to speed up de-chlor and o2 your water. all the exchange is at the surface and this puts more water at the surface more often. I keep a min of 3 gal at the ready with the rest airing out the chlor. what nutes are you using ? looking pretty good so far tho. just my 2 cents and I probably owe you change :)

Hey, Elsamurai. I started her out in organic soil with trace NPK, but added some 2-2-2 insect frass, vermicompost and biochar. Then I top dressed just shy of two weeks with 1/4 to 1/3 strenght tomato tone, which is 3-4-6, but also has cal/mag and other beneficial micro nutrients and organisms. I'm trying do an organic soil with what I had on hand. Trying to keep out of pocket to a minimum right now. I want to buy an airstone/pump but haven't yet. Right no I'm using a bucket and jgive it a good stir every time I walk by to help mix things up.

I do have a question about insect frass tea....The bag says it's 2-2-2 out of the bag, but would that hold steady for all applications or in soil only, meaning if I use it to make tea is the tea also come out 2-2-2? Does anybody know?

Also, if I wanted to try to increase just the N at this time what could I use?

do you have life in your soil firing ? i.e. can you see little arthrodods & worms ?. With true organics, using the soil food web, you "feed the soil, not the plant". The whole point of aerating your teas is to proliferate the microbes and then add these to your soil. It is the soil life that makes organic nutrients available to plants. :-)

Curlygirl,

Nice set up you have going there! Can I ask what size pot you are using and what soil mix/brand? Looking at your pictures it looks to me she is screaming for some nitrogen as her leaves are a bit on the yellow side. What is your soil Ph? I have grown 4 Nirvana Blue Mystics and while I was happy with a couple plants the others were pretty much genetic duds. The couple that grew well had a wonderful berry fruit smell and were great to work with. My first 3 plants all grown in the same soil type and lighting all were different phenotypes. The 4th plant grown in the next grow did not have the auto flower trait and only started to flower once in 12/12 lighting. I did not have room for a 12/12 cycle so this plant was axed sadly. There was another grower here on the forum that also was growing a few Blue Mystics as well and he too was having problems with crazy phenotypes and I think he even ended up with a plant that was male. So we both discontinued growing anymore Blue Mystics. I do have 1 more seed that I might use on my next grow as I hate to see it in my seed stash. I don't know if Nirvana had a "bad" batch of seeds or what but the genetics seemed to be rather unstable at least with the seeds in my and the other members grow. I am glad yours is at least starting to flower as that seems to be half the battle!

Hi Vas, I can't see anything but I've been using organic ingredients with microbes such as EWC, insect frass and tomato tone. I can't necessarily see any life, but I know I've been adding microbes and feeding them with EWC/Molasses tea.

Thanks, Hotz! I'm using Black Gold organic soil amended with insect frass (2-2-2), vermicompost and bio char in a 2 gal smart pot.

Now I have a decision to make. She'll need a drink soon and will be due for food so I'm trying to decide what to do. She's 11" tall now and seems happy. She's growing about 1/2-1" per day. I'm noticing some red on the tops of the stems (not the main stalk) and where the fan leaves connect to the stem is red. I have some 3-4-6 or some 2-2-2 I could give. I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions? Maybe I need to buy some Alaska fish juice 5-1-1? Anyways here is a new picture. She looks pretty happy to me. What do you think?

A light feeding of the tomato-tone will be fine. A tablespoon top dressed would not hurt but no more than that. You have a perfect green, not too light or dark. That red is how my leaves always look. I have had plants with red strips on the stalks and branches. Almost like a candy cane but straight not twisted. Plant is doing well, do not change what you are doing.
