Hi all I'm a brand new grower. And must have been reading constantly for about the last month on how to grow. I have taken the leap and got myself some black cream seeds also trying out dark devil and somango. Was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice as this is my first grow. I am not able to grow under lights at the moment. So I am growing these outside. I have germinated them and they are all in jiffy pellets at the moment and seem to be doing ok. I'm about a week in and all for have split thier shell and are about 1" tall. Advice on what soil nutes and anything else would be much appreciated. Also how much could I realistically expect to yield from a black cream plant grown outside in the uk

Hi Dannyo,

Welcome to AFN

The first thing to do is get them into deeper pots. I bet the tap roots are already poking out the bottom of the pellets. No ferts for a couple more weeks just plain water.

Do you know the last day for frost in your area? Do you plan to put them in the ground or grow in pots?
What type o soil do you plan to use?

Hi yeah I have just put them in 5" pots I ain't got a clue about the frost but it's pretty nice weather at the moment and is ment to be ok for a while now considering it's the uk lol. I am going to keep them in pots. Just put the pellets straight into ji no 2 as I read that this would be ok. Yes your right the roots had just started to stick out so rushed to get compost this morning. And unfortunately as it's a bank holiday couldn't get to highdro shop.

Do I give them veg nutes even tho they are ment to kinda skip that part. Or do I just wait to give them bloom. Also is it possible to grow good yields of photo seeds outside in the uk.

Hi Dannyo,

You can give the some veg nutes once they are about 3 weeks old. I would do it at 1/4 strength and see how they do with it. No bloom nutes until they are in full flower. Locate them where they can get as much sun as possible. You might want to pile mulch or something around your pots to help keep the roots cooler once it gets warmer outside

Here is a link to check your frost date http://www.gardenaction.co.uk/main/weather.asp

Growing in pots is ok, I would use something around 20 L in size. You are also probably going to need either Cal-Mag from your hydro store or get garden lime and epsome salts.

Do you have a pH meter? Checking your water pH and the run off from your pots is important to prevent nute lockout. You want the pH of your soil to be around 6.4 or so +/- about .2

We all like to see pictures so I would try to post some every week or so if possible. It helps folks here to spot any issues before things get too bad

Good Luck

ps If you have not done so already stop by introductions and tell folks about yourself
