Browning leaf tips

No worries, I find it hard to believe that I have been THAT helpful, I don't get to socialize that much with 3 different grows going... :)

Ambers identified from the pic I was talking about:

Wow! That's cool. Didn't even know what I was looking at. Thanks!

And, don't be so modest. You've been with me over on the new grower's forum from the get go! And my brother is named after you ;)

Three grows at once? Damn…. You're the :pimp: I wanna be you when I grow up :pighug:

I'm a lightweight, sweetie...compared to some of these guys...

ROFLMAO!

Alright, I'll try to cope ;)

Thank you. "Heart" you even more, now. Ha ha!

G'night, everybody! Will check back in soon (once we're out of the sick ward). Cheers to all!

Another fun/odd thing ya might find along the way, is that sometimes some trichs on the tiny bud leaves (aka sugar leaves, trim leaves) may amber more than or earlier than the calyx trichomes, but then some autos don't amber at all. [Thus, you'll have to develop your trimming style per your consumption preferences. For instance, I like to leave a good bit of the sugar leaves on the finished buds, as long as it's got good trichome coverage :) simply because I feel it holds good medicinal value. That's not for everyone and that's okay :)]

Interesting, Anthro. Thanks! I've been browsing through Rosenthal's "Trash to Stash". Want to make the most out of this first harvest. Seems like there are so many parts besides the fattest buds that are covered in trichs and useful. Hoping to utilize all to the fullest. Waste not, want not, right :Cool bud:

Yeah after looking at the full body shots it looks like those ladies have a few more weeks of fattening up. U will be amazed at how much weight they pack on in the coming weeks. You are doing a wonderful job and have an amazing healthy plant to show for it. I wish I was as good at growing as you are on my first grow, I would have killed a lot less plants lol. I am stoked to see this on through for sure Jen!

"AFN smoke out"..thanks fellow homies! :d5: ....Trap brudda, good follow up-- I forgot that part of the trich' lecture- LOL! ....Gaahhhh!- so much to relate, it's hard not to just bury somebody at times,... Anthro' bud, another good point I spaced-- where one looks at the trichs! And of course, the occasional contrary auto strain! Jen, that's part of the variable behavior during final ripening some auto's have,...there are some strains that are very slow to amber, if at all, and when they do, often it's well past the point of peak potency and aromatics,... amber is a color taken on by the trichome head (glob at the top of the stalk) when THC begins to break down into CBN, which is a major contributor to the narcotic sleepies affect and slack-jaw couch-lock! :roflcry: ... I don't know what causes the variability, if it's a Sativa or Indica thing, or related to the terpines in the trich's themselves, or-:dunno:... often the best source of info on that is others who have grown your specific strain,... Widow Chz sounds like a pretty even hybrid,... I know WW and Cheese do amber from what others report,... I shoulda asked if you could post trich pics! ...tough to get good shots on, at that magnification,... Trap is right, you do have a mix of all three... best angle to look at for color is from the side,... no mistaking amber, but clear and cloudy/milky can be tougher to call unless you get just the right shot with light and no interference from other things in the way,... Oh, and like Anthro' mentioned, usually you'll find amber first on smaller sugar leaves, and in area that are more exposed to light intensity, weather, etc., like at the apex of a cola,... I like to look at calyxes only for assessment, near the top, on the sides of the buds,... compare to those lower down, and at the very top exposed places, too see how the different parts of the plant are maturing,... (more calibrating!).... WW and Chz are hybrids themselves, but from what I hear both tend to hit the body almost like a Indica dom' strain does! So, keep that in mind when you decide when to harvest, and how much ambering you want, and therefore how heavy the buzz... this is all personal preference at this point,.... Other gellies can chime in on their % amber preferences to help you gauge what you want to shoot for... myself, Sativa biased strains I let get to about 5-15% amber (and the evaluation is just an emperical guess,... who actually counts out 50-100 trichs and takes notes?!- LOL!), to keep that soaring upbeat high, but dial down the speediness that comes with some strains,... Indicas,.. depends on how notorious the strain is for couch-lock syndrome,... some is great, but too much (like 30+%), and all it does for me is make me tired and hungry, with a head full of mud,... so I don't let them get more than 20% amber max... again, personal preference,... If I had to make a call on your girls, I'd say shoot for about 15% too,...the drying and curing process will also add to the amount of ambering a bit,.... :slaps: Jen, the learning curve stays steep right through harvest and cure! And sheer experience is still the best teacher,... best thing to shoot for as a noob is what NOT to do sometimes! :roflcry: So if you take your bud at low % or fairly high, it'll be fine,... just not too early or too late, all clear trichs or mostly amber! Sooo, have a look at the trichomes on the bud calyxes near the upper part of the plant, mature stuff, not the newest tips, and lower down, and let us know what you think you see,... Trap may be right-- you're close to flush, if you have nearly all cloudy, and a little amber... the last pics made me think a couple weeks still, but IMO trich's trump leaf yellowing (which can also be quite variable) and amount of mature (color changed, dry) pistils,.... BUT all three are the things to weigh when making a call,.... :goodluck:
