Burr_nit’s 1st Organic Grow

Plants are doing great, but my soil has become kind of low in my pots — so I was thinking about doing a good amount of top dressing. However I have some mulch (straw) and cover crop. So honestly I would just top dress on top the mulch — I figured eventually after enough waterings it would wash down and mix with mulch.

I just don’t know if it would be problematic to plants or not. I figured maybe since plants are heading flower I could top dress with some EWC, ANCIENT FOREST COMPOST, MAYBE A BIT OF SEABURD GUANO/HIGH P BAT GUANO.

OR

I could keep it simple and top dress with some more of my homemade soil — has a little bit of everything in it.. or just some compost..

Idk, I’m posting this in hopes of hearing from some you guys! Ideas and suggestions if you have any would be very helpful... let me know what you all think?!

Wish I could help with some advice, but you're way out of my league man. Yet it seems that so far your choices have been real well received by the girls. Carry on. :toke:

First time on your page. Great job. Depending on how much you need to add but I would add soil to a desired level and then I like to top dress Kelp. If there is something lacking then kelp should take care of it. I use a few tablespoons in a 7 gallon pot. I have also added a quality EWC "sludge" I make by bubbling my castings with an airlift for over 24 hours. I put it on thick...about an inch or so. Both of these are great "fix it" options for organics. Just watch topdressing late in flower because it can cause unwanted fox-tailing . HTH

Certainly no expert but ive top dressed my plants a few time without consequence.....that was just with compost though ,not sure about mulch [emoji111]

Thanks Guerillagrower! Been going through some reading and top dressing with compost seems pretty common so it definitely maybe something I will try. Should help me in building some good buds too..still doing some research! Thanks for help!

Tommy! Thank you, I appreciate the help. I definitely have at least another month (30+days) before chop. 40+ on a couple of them for sure..Too late to topdress in your opinion?

When it comes to topdressing I stop 3-4 weeks from harvest. I do not see the point after this because if you made it this far with no topdress...the plant should be able to finish without. Most organic products take 2-3 weeks to start to work, when you topdress. Making a tea is different and more instant. I have large pots and topdress during the first few weeks of flower. this will carry me through flower with little effort.

Interesting subject here guys , I'm thinking adding more soil might be the way to go as you being not far off harvest .

I did add a bit more of homemade soil to the pots. Didn't go to crazy.. I guess if they made it this far, then rest of flower should be fine, but I guess we will find out. Always appreciate the help Hecno!
