Can some one please explain for me the amount and time to use Cal/ Mag , like do you use it only when there is a problem or can it be used with every feeding so you don't get a problem ? ,:dunno:

i feed cal/mag every second feeding even if the plants don't show any signs of deficiency more a preventative than anything else, if the plants are showing any sign of cal/mag deficiency i feed every watering. what brand of cal/mag do you use?

On my last grow, I used it every feed after about 3 weeks, just a little as a preventive maintenance type deal. It depends on which Cal/Mag you use though...some have added NPK...
I was using 1-0-0 Humboldt Equilibrium and may have experienced a little N-Overabundence...so I switched to the relatively "lighter" GH CaMg+ with an NPK value of 0-0-0.

The requirement is heightened by the use of LEDs.

My 2 cents. :)

I use it at every watering but only at half dose. It's easier to prevent a problem rather than try and correct it.

I have not used Cal/Mag.

where I live water is hard and contains lots of calcium to top up the Mag I use epsome salts.

I know there are different brands of Cal/Mag , so I would follow the manufacturers dosage advice

Cal/mag deficiencies often show round week 5/6 , 1 tbsp of Epsome Salts to a gallon (4.5 liters) Dissolve the Epsome salts in some warm water and top up to 1 gallon and ph the water. water in. Repeat 5/6 later or as needed if def shows up.

You can also apply it a foliar spray 1/4 tsp to 1 pint (600ml) again dissolve in warm water and top up to a pint. Spray on to plant leaves.
Repeat 5/6 weeks later or as needed if def shows up.

My current nutes has a fair bit of Cal & Mag so that's the reason why I don't add it too often but many grower will add cal/mag reguarly once a week as a preventative.

I also like to let my coco dry out a fair bit to allow ph to rise, making the mag more available

There lies the problem , so far I have only found one product here in Auss , it is called Calmag-Life by Nutri Tech Solutions , says to be used the whole crop cycle , plus I am growing in soil . bottle says Cal 20 .2 % Mag 9.7 % specific gravity 1.54 conductivity
6 mS /cm .

Ps data sheet shows no NPK .

I use the CaMg+ product too, has molasses in it as well. I use it every watering, I am useing RO water this grow (trying to eliminate my tap water as a problem)

When and how much to use depends a bit on the ppm of your source water. If you're using tap water with high ppm you may not need cal/mag at all or only during flowering. If you're using distilled or RO water, then you need to add it to every feeding since all the cal/mag, as well as other trace minerals, have been removed. I'm using RO so add it right from the start. When I used tap, I added it starting around week 4 or 5 as a preventative.

How much is considered high ppm for tap water?
