Hi everyone,

Have just started my new grow, a bit more info can be found in my journal linked below. The past few grows i have done have always had the signs of a Cal or Mag deficincy at some point in early flowering, in the past i have used a regular soil and chemical nute during veg and then at the start of flowering switched to Bio Bloom only for the rest of the flowering stage.

This time round have got Bio Bizz Light Mix for the soil and the Bio Grow and Bio Bloom as nutes, which i will be feeding the Grow for veg and then the recommended mix of Grow and Bloom for the rest of the flowering period. But have been reading that even with the Grow and Bloom many people still get problems with Cal and Mag as the Bio Bizz nutes are low in these elements.

My local growshop is only a small place and carrys a limited line of products, i have been looking for something just incase i get any signs of a deficincy in this grow and want to get prepared in advance. I have come across a Spanish branded product called Urtifer Harina De Ortiga, which translates to Nettle Flour/Powder which looks to provide a good boost of micro nutes, have quoted below the translated product details.

Code:
TRABE Urtifer nettle flour 450 gr

[COLOR=#333333][FONT=Arial]COMPOSITION of URTIFER: 100% Nettle ([I]Urtica sp[/I]) extracted from organic farming.

RECOMMENDED FOR:
Prevention against foliar fungi, insect repellent and contact insecticide. Multi-corrector of deficiencies in iron (ferric clororis), sulfur, potassium or calcium. Soaking in water is required. Nettles also act as a growth stimulator due to their composition.

APPLICATION of URTIFER nettle flour:[/SIZE]

[SIZE=2]1. Foliar application: Soak 30-40 grams of URTIFER per liter of water for 14-24 hours while shaking the solution energetically for 30 minutes and stirring every 2-3 hours.

2. Application in soil: Soak a minimum of 30-50 g of URTIFER per litre of water for one week. Leaving it soaking for 10 days is also recommended. Then, once the mixture is ready, you can use it for more than 6 weeks. [/SIZE]

Now i am also going to be using Neem Oil as a preventative for any bugs that i have already purchased, so the mains questions really are....

Would it be safe to use this in a foliar feed while using the Neem?

Do you think this would be useful for the deficencys?

If not safe to foliar feed, would it be ok to feed in the water while using the Bio Bizz nutes?

Better to use this instead of Neem for a preventative?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.......

Well Im not 100% up on that product but after looking at the stuff it has in it I would stay away from it imo for several reasons.first shaking and mixing constantly telle me its FAR from mostly soluable, prolly heavy for a foliar anyways due to the heavy elements in it.you could try sifting in small quantities in a bubbled gallon or whatever amount you use,but since chlorine and several other heavier elements in the powder id personally stay away from it,especially for a foliar feed.and imho I totally wouldnt put that imn my soil mix either since the other crude protiens ,chlorine n things could lend to serious issues and less microbe activity.

you just looking for a foliar and/or soil cal mag addition? cant get epsom and crabshell ,eggshells?Im not familair with a lot of the stuffs ya'll use over across the way bro.

Thanks for the reply Eyes,

Can see your points, especially about the chlorine can´t believe i missed that component while translating them. Yeah is all i am looking for is a additive just incase Cal/Mag def should appear, as it has every past grow in the first week or so of flowering.

Well might as well wait for now and see how she goes, maybe the change of beans this grow along with the soil and the new grow nutes will work out. Just hard to get it out of my head after it happening in the past, but could just be unrequired paranoia.

Might just add a bit of Guano in with the water and nute schedule near the end of veg and into flowering, as that also seems to have all she should need to keep her happy till the end. Have available at the local grow either Guanokalong or Guanoforte, would post the links to them at my local shop but not sure on forum rules on linking to growshops.

I can get most things needed though mail order, but try not to order anything grow related of the net. Prefer to deal face to face and pay cash, rather than have a record of where i have been buying online on my credit card or ****** account as these are also linked to my own online business. Also the owner of my local growshop is a super nice guy, and makes me happy to do business with him whenever possible.

Thanks again for your help and karma for you.

Matt

Yeah no problem man.I do understand your worry though.with a living soil thats not tested will need a decent supplement of cal mag if you can get a buddy or just someone who ya know cuz most all other things youll need Im certain are local.and IF you had massive microbial activity and applied the chlorine laced minerals it would kill some, piss off others and slow general growth until it worked its way out and was taken over after a certain amount of time and feeding and building the endo/ecto Myco's. But until then you can ofcourse use an unsulphurmolasses and epsom salts of a similar magnesium supplement that mostly soluable n thatll do ya fine if ya do it like a cal mag supp every watering or atleast every other watering. get some crab meal and eggshells or similar crustacean type of meal or so.amend your soil well with that and youll be amazed at how easy it dont get discolored unless yer realllly lazy like me this go LOL!

Cheers Bro,

Will try to relax and not over think it for now, but if and when the time comes you have given me plenty of knowledge and options to think about. Starting to love being in this forum thanks to people like you and the few other i have had the pleasure to meet.
