I've just stumbled across possibly the easiest way to obtain this miracle stuff for your soil/plants. Find a pet store that deals with large animal/livestock feed and they should carry pure calcium carbonate as a dietary supplement.

I just paid $5.40 for 4 kg!!!!

I usually mix up 2 kg's to 200 litres of soil along with my other amendments, and just watch your brix levels soar through the roof! :pimp:

Then I don't add anymore until flowering sets in, in which you just sprinkle half a cup over the top of your soil and water, then top up again 2-3 weeks the same way.

Hope this helps!

I'm going to be using some today--I am going to top dress my flowering girls with good quality compost boosted with benes, worm castings, high P bat guano, pure, unrefined cane sugar, alfalfa, hops and a little rice husk charcoal, then water through with molasses and neem in pHed water. :)

Sounds like you have some great amendments, may I ask what the use of the alfalfa hay and neem oil's purpose is?

Not trying to be a dick, just new to me.

I dont know about alfalfa but i use neem oil to prevent fungas nats

Alfalfa is a source of N and a growth and bloom stimulant. Many pot growers stop feeding with alfalfa in flowering, but many use it all the way through, and some bottled organic ferts contain alfalfa. It's my first time using it in flowering; let's see if it makes my plants stretch and bud more slowly. If so, I won't feed with it again during flowering, but I doubt it will.

Neem oil is good for preventing all kinds of pests and diseases, and is best used systemically (watered into the soil rather than sprayed). I'll stop using it (and the alfalfa) two weeks before harvest.

Alfalfa is more commonly used in teas/composted; I use very finely-milled food grade stuff.

Get Into 50lb sacks from the farm and feed stores for about 11 bucks so I hear, I'm in the uk tho, but all the organic guys I know from the USA use those farm and feed stores..

Yeah Mate I'm in Australia, where everything's three times the price, originally from Texas though and boy do I miss those cheap cheap prices on just about anything you need or want. I Was paying more than double what I'm paying now until finding this mom and pop feed store. I beleive I was paying aroun 9.00 a KG.

And MR Daylighting, that's quite useful, actually I try to limit the npk that I have in my soil and very rarely add any liquid nutes other than worm tea or brix foliar sprays, but that neem oil I think I will definitely start using if it helps keep the pesky little buggers away. Good to know it helps with fungi nats as well.

Thanks for all of the great info my brothers.
Great to see some more Organic Soil growers here. I can use all the experiance and information that you all have to offer, as I am such a novice grower.

Peace.

Sharing is caring bro!!! :Sharing One:

But here at AFN, in the presence of so many growers doing so many different things and achieving great results, you can't go wrong. I believe this is the friendliest, most honest, helpful site there is. Everyone here is always keen on giving a helping hand, it's truly an out of this world group here. With all of us sharing our love for this miracle plant amongst ourselves.

Did I mention how great this place is?

Lol I try to be a sponge when I'm here, just lay back and soak it all up!!!!
