As title above says, can adding cal mag when not needed cause more problems than good?
i am using canna mono cal and canna mono mag but have been hesitant to add to my ladies in the past, even when calmag issues have been identified as i don't understand the science of cal mag. I have had success in the past with giving the ladies a good flush, which would suggest my soil ph is off and therefor locking cal and mag out. So do i flush then add cal mag ? when showing deficiencies but can i supplement with cal mag throughout the grow as well?

sorry about all the questions lol all help is truly appreciated!!

Have been wondering myself. Have had cal mag probs in past while using biobizz products. Now using Dutch pro and so far so good. Have a bottle of Shogun cal mag. Bottle says contains cal,mag and iron I think and to use from start to finish at 1ml per litre. Was thinking about using it as a preventative measure but was not sure if its a good idea or not.

hopefully someone will chime in and answer this for us lol Are those the autoflower specific nutes ? i would imagine they would have some sort of calmag in them as autoflowers typically require more calmag from what iv'e read. From my understanding adding calcium can lock out mag and vis versa, so is it ok to add cal and mag together but not on their own unless a specific deficiency is identified? as i have had success in the past identifing and treating a calcium defiency with mono calcium..... ahh so many questions lol

:check:...Good question mate!... generally, it's better to prevent than cure, right? :brow: Regular supp's of Ca-Mg are fine, just keep in mind other sources of input; good fert's will have some included, but sometimes it's not enough,... other supplements may have them too, so read labels carefully, and keep account! ...we do see lots of Ca and/or Mg defc.'s here, arguably the most common, even with some folks who are adding extra,...some plants are funny that way, even when there are no other soil/water/pH issues,...:dunno:...and it's no coincidence the two are often paired together! They are critical nutrients, involved in a whole host of roles in the plants' physiology,...***.... many folks note there's a greater than usual demand for Ca-Mg when using LED's,...***... So, follow the label recommendations,...keep account of other input sources and reduce dosage if needed,... size of the plant and therefore demand, is something to account for too,...and that auto's are generally nutrient sensitive,.... to get actual lockout/toxic levels I think you'd have to be pouring brain-dead amounts into your feeds/water! Who does that...? LMAO!!....

*** edit*** forgot to add: Ca and Mg are most often found in carbonate forms,... it's these carbonates that are involved in pH buffering, so having those around is also a plus!...

Yes I'm using Dutch pro autoflower soil nutes in biobizz light mix. Very pleased with the results so far. I think the shogun cal mag sup is quite weak. Got a grow on at the moment. Auto ultimate with above nutes. Also got a little auto euforia just started. Might use the shogun additive on this one from the start. Just cause I have it really.

Nice one TripDog seen your grow man looks like whatever ya doin is workin bro. Recently made the switch from canna to advanced nutrients and i experienced less cal mag issues but i don't know if that was because i switched out the led for the hps with the cold weather so early days to tell yet.

I also found that if you are planning on using it preventatively as a regular additive
to get one with little to no NPK value. That way it isn't monkeying with any other
numbers and/or causing other abundance issues. That's why I use GO CaMg+...
NPK is 0-0-0.

That is exactly what I was looking for a cal mag supp. with no or very little npk value thanks trapper. I am just about to start three TD and a auto extreme
