Good morning @Big Sur Holy .I do it all the time if they are the lowers and look like they will only produce popcorn,they are what i cal sucker branches..

Same here...anytime there is an underformed budsites well under the canopy, it gets lopped...I do the same thing with giant photoperiod plants to increase premium tips.

Plant in pic is showing around 3 feet of lower stripped of immaure shaded bud sites/shoots...final pull 90oz dry...efforts paid off!
