New Grower Can i get a little help please

Hey oldtimer. :smokebuds:

Here are a few links to threads that you should have a read through to get started:

Reviews of Fertilizers and Soils

The life cycle of autoflowering cannabis

FD's Guide to Hefty Autos

When to harvest autos?

I would avoid any and all Miracle Grow products at all costs. Also, before you plug in those lights with the painted reflectors, I would make sure that the paint you used is meant to be exposed to heat. Those spot bulbs will get hot and, while the paint might not catch on fire, it might off-gas some toxic chemicals into your living area if they get too hot.

welcome oldtimer! us new school boys will show ya the ropes man! haha if i were you i would get online and search local hydro shop, they will have fox farm soil and nutrients that comes with a feeding schedule, pots, knowledge about new lighting and things you can see and get an idea about! if you dont know of any then get on and just do mad research! i learned how to grow from high times mag before they had these forums! im only 26 but have been growing since i was a freshman in high school, my mom even found my grow box in my closet and tried to help me grow it cause she smoked and wanted to take mine! hahaha local hydro shop, look em up good luck brother!
the only things i have ever used from lowes is their fungicide organic spray and their perlite!

Can i get a little help please
OK first off i'm old so bare with me and honestly i suck with a PC and spelling.

Ok i have grown long ago back in the 80s. and i see ALOT has changed and how i found this place i don't know but i'm glad i did because i could use some help with all this new stuff out there.

ok i have read up on how to grow autos here on the forms and it has help a lot so this is what i need help with.

switching between fertilizer the growing kind and flowering kind. is there stuff i can buy at lows to keep a low profile like for growing i use this box of stuff and for flowering i switch to another?
last time i grew i. well throw some seeds in the back yard and wait a few months ha-ha.

can i use the potting soil they have there as well ?

the lighting i have.

honestly i forgot how to tell when there ready for just plane water at the end of the 65-75 days?

and lighting do i keep the lights on them for 13hr at a time or 20 or keep them on 24hrs?

And sorry if i'm troubling but i suck at looking up stuff that's why i'm just asking

thank you for your time

High oldtimer. welcome aboard :)

You can get away with any old garden fertilizer as long as you know what to look for in it. It's the NPK values on the bottles. So if you look at a proper canna grow and bloom nutes, write down the NPK values then goto the Garden centre and buy something that matches for the grow stage and then the bloom stage. Follow the instructions on the bottle for strength, best to go half strength at first to avoid chemical burns to the plants.

You can use compost from the garden centre too, try and pick up something that has no added fertiliser, slow release nutrients or anything like that, to avoid chemical burns to young plants. Buy a bag of perlite to mix in to help with drainage, lighten the soil. Avoid fox farm soil (ffof) and promix.

You keep the light on them for either 18 hours, 20hours or 24 hours. Up to you, try this one at 20 n see how ye get on. Doesn't matter with auto's, just don;t go less than 18 hours if ye can help it.

You can tell when its getting close to harvest when the little white hairs have mostly turned to orange, if ye have a good camera you'll see the crystals on the leaves start to go from clear to cloudy amber and if you have a microscope you can examine them properly and crop when you get a 50/50 ratio of amber/cloudy.

Avoid the fancy composts and don't worry about PH'ing just now, just don't add anything other than perlite to the compost and make sure its a general purpose compost and it's a piece of cake.

Can you link me to the bulbs you are using, if it's the ones i think then they are designed for flower shops to show off their wares in a nice light, not for making things grow to their full potential.

riz, whats up with the hatin on fox farm? that is some very good soil man, with autos you need to use jiffy pots with seed starter soil in them and put them into it so the nutes dont burn the seedlings! but its badass stuff in my opinion! no direspect just curious! :peace:

Just feedback from other users who have to PH their soil and it seems to be those two brands causing it. Compost from the bag shouldn't need PH'ing in the life of an auto. Imaging growing without having to PH anything compared to having to PH everything. It's just easier not to start off with something that can cause PH problems.

Thats another discussion..

Don't worry about tester, he's like that with me too.

The NPK ratings on my nutes are

Grow
3-5-4
Bloom
5-3-3

i have never had any ph probs out of FFOF soil! its ph balanced at 6.5,,, and if you have perfect ph water, you dont have to worry about anything. i have a ph meter and i have only used it a couple times to check but stopped using it because it was always the same! i had to adjust my water ph for one auto grow but then found the best water ever at wally world!!!! lol that sounds so gay! lol oh well anyway everyones got their thing and as long as you rock your shit out, its all good! i also use the Fox Farm liquid trio nutes and love them! im gonna check that link out riz! i love debates, thats what keeps forums from becoming boring! :bong: holla!

i have some Real life issues i don't feel like letting Evey 1 know about.
That is what you should have said. Nobody around here is going to ask for details you don't offer. Too old is a terrible excuse... think about the alternative!

You've got help coming out your ears now... the one's with the dark rectangles under their avatars are the safest ones to listen to. :peace:
