i have 7 gallon pots filled with 6 gallons of dirt and i want to grow 2 in each to save space will that work or am i better off 1 to a pot? Ive read that its not a good idea just wondering if anybodys ever done it with autos?

hello mrjones. I would recomend 1 plant per pot. If you do 2 in 1 pot, they will get big, then the roots will intertwine and chocke each other out. No, it is not a good idea. I have seen grows where folks have done it with good success, but right now I have 4- 5 gallon smart pots with a plant in each one, and 4 of those are taking over a 4 x 4 tent!! Wait til someone else chimes in, but in my opinion, I would not! you are better going down to 3 gallon pots and more of them. If you could be a bit more specific on your grow space, lights, nutrients ect. would be more helpful for a better answer.:peace:

you be the judge started 10 seeds got 4 females in a 4gallon bucket of promix under 400w digilux hps

well i have 7 gallon pots im using subcools super soil my grow space is kinda limited 6x3x8 but i can get more space if i pull it outta the closet which i was thinking about doing if i can rig up my own kinda tent room in the basement, the lights im using i dont think theyre that good but i needed something to get me started ( Amazon.com: iPower GLSETX1000DHMWING20 1000-Watt Light Digital Dimmable HPS MH Grow Light System for Plants - Wing Set: Patio, Lawn & Garden ) i got both bulbs 1000w. I already burnt my bubblegum to hell (hopefully she lives). Im still a new grower never grew inside before neither, outside a couple times.

that looks like a cluster fuck i aint trying to grow that many in one lol

If you have ample space for many pots, keep them separate. If grow space is premium, then squeeze in the seedlings per pot and rip out males and poor performers...leaving only the best in each pot,
7 gallon pot should be good for 4 adult plants all squeezed up together. Is limited grow space or plant numbers your priority? Because yield may be a little less when bunched together but because more plants growing your total yield will increase.

just showing its possible 2 plants if you train them apart you should get a nice haul + you got a bigger pot than what they are in

i just let those do what they wanted then spread them a bit after they flowered

@dingo but my problem is i dont have anymore pots and i gotta work with what i got and i have 2 each of diesel auto black cream and red poison all females to. I got 3 pots thats why im trying to do this so i can grow the rest of them and get more. Basically what it comes down to is whats going to give me a better yield 2 in 1 or 1, 1 in 1 at the end of the grow and you said it yourself.

@sniper oh so they were fine? thought he was proving something else..

Yes you can grow 2 in one pot, grow three if the pot is big enough. Look up "HAZY on here, think he's just started another grow using 2 per pot.

Hey buddy while your here in the New Growers Forum why not start a grow journal. Youll be able to ask your questions here and not start a new thread for each question. Much easier for folks to keep track that way and a bit more courtesy for the ones responding to your question would be nice as well. Thank you :tiphat:
