New Grower Can i grow two autos in one 6 gallon pot?

I would not recommend it. first there is the development issue's, if you breeding for the strongest genetic and doing so with the survival of the fittest technique then i would try it.(not a breeder but makes sense to me) Otherwise each different plant is going to have it own individual and unique set of needs both with nutrition and with light. Most of the autos i have seen flower early but there is still a great deal of variance between the start of the flower times. In addition to this the lenght of flowering time and nutritional needs based on flowering progress can seperate in a huge hurry. I have to add that this can happen even with 2 plants of the same strain, while they will alway be similiar there will always be some differences (assuming the best). And if your not into LST or some other training method forget it. This is what i learned from my current grow, while i am sure that there is some success with this method i would keep them seperate to better care for there individual needs. Not an expert by any stretch just my :2cents:

mrjones15,

I've grown multiple plants in large 14 and 17 gallon tubs before; it totally can be done but the others have stated some good points here. The plants won't magically share root space, they will contend for it. This causes roots to weave into the roots of other plants, choke them out, and ultimately you're left with one plant that usually is clearly "the big boy winner" and the rest suffer. It's not that they will grow crappy bud, but you are limiting the potential to grow really great bud. I put 6 plants of different strain types (another bad idea, hadn't crossed my mind at all about tall plants next to short plants in the tub, but it did cross my mind about two months into it! ) One of the plants flat out stunted, and I had to train the crap out of the rest to not be all up in each others business.

So if you do go ahead with it; plan right now that you are going to be Low Stress Training (LST) all of the plants in the tub. One thought I had for the big tubs was using something as sectional dividers, so maybe taking some 'weed block' fabric (black fabric you put down on terrain to prevent vegetation from growing under it; can be found at Lowe's, Home Depot, or most hardware stores and I'm sure most gardening shops,) and cutting sheets of it to match the dimensions of your container. If you can figure out a way to make a frame for the fabric (maybe stiff wire from a coat hanger, could use thin diameter PVC pipe, etc,) then the fabric should prevent roots from growing through into the neighboring plants space.

I've been using iPower ballasts and bulbs for over a year and a half and they are rock solid man; there's absolutely nothing wrong with that brand :smokebuds: I just recently started using their 6" cool tubes and they are also solidly built (have used them for a few months now!)

First off thank you all. I want to start a diary but my camera is lost since I moved I got this phone camera but last time I couldn't upload it. they're 2 in 1 pots so id like to try and record it.

With a pot that large, yes you can easily pull off multiple plants per pot. I've tried multi potting a few times with some success. sniper and toke do a lot of multi-pot grows and they offer some great advice here. Without a journal or pictures it'll be hard to help if any issues arise. Make sure the water is pH'd even with using a TLO mix.

You'll get mixed responses here, because is it ideal? No, it's never ideal to have more than one plant in a pot because the roots will fight for space. Will it work? Yes, will it provide a good haul? Probably so if all other factors are dialed in.

Good luck with the grow bud and hopefully you can get a journal started, I know you had some issues last time with getting pictures uploaded.. woo that was a minute ago!

Yes still can't get it because it wants me to drag the picture but i'm using a phone so it drags the screen how do I upload from phone if I can't drag the picture??

Total newbie but you could put something inside the pot to make it into two pots. Say like those re-useable - go green - shopping bags, or even your potting mix bags. Poke a few holes for drainage. Sorry always got that Macgyver wheels turning. :D:

Yea but I have like 4.5 gallons of super soil on bottom and 1.5 gallons of seed starter soil on top and it'd be kinda hard to not mix the super soil up top
