So I’ve been doing extractions and have issues at the very end.
Decarb
Grain alcohol soak
Strain all organic out.

I have a heated magnetic stirrer now and cook off the alcohol at 170f. But as the concoction reduces I start to get separation. I was hoping to use the reduction straight but have also taken the reductions and mixed with VG over lower heat to try to get dilution but still get the dark green oily separation. Is the concentration to high or what is going wrong?

The initial product before heat reduction shows no separation but once I get down below 25% if initial volume the dark green goo shows up. I assume this is the good stuff but how do I keep it in suspension?

That’s not magic, it’s just a sideways pic

The green is excess water solubles. Grain alcohol, 48 hours in the freezer, both alcohol and plant material. Plant material needs to be dry, well past normal smoking dry. Alcohol pulls water solubles, the longer its left the more it pulls out. 3 minutes washed @ freezing, you can stretch to 10 minute washes if your using dry ice.

Also 190 is still 5% water by volume, very possible your seeing that separate. Winterizing will help here, but to get this batch right (golden yellow) , you'll need a buckner funnel, a vacuum, and activated charcoal to get rid of the color.

I've got about 4 grams of some greener stuff, still smokes well, and works well in edibles, just the flavor is a little plantie.

Any second opinions?

Using kief nowadays but this was an old soak that I reduced. I do use very very dry product. Willl boiling off water help with solubility of goo into glycerin?
