Hey dudes, so I decided to tip prune my unknown day 40 plants because they are growing like super autos and I can't have them get too big because they are in my back garden and the neighbours overlook us! They're growing so fast, I'm sure they can handle it and I'm happy with bushier plants, and smaller buds etc.

What I want to know is - shall I bother dry and cure the tips or is it a waste of time? This may be a stupid question, but I am a total nubie and so have absolutely no idea as this is my first grow ever.

This is what the pruned tips look like:

Those branch tips are no good for any thing. They are part of the vegetative growth and contain no thc.You have to wait until you get your mature flower buds to have a good quality smoke.

Nah man, there isn't anything psycho-active in those tips.. sorry, just throw them away. Good luck on the stealth grow, they will get much bigger so prepare for that! To make it look less obvious, depending on what else is growing around it, try and make it blend in. Put tomato vines over the stalk or clip small fake flowers on it, you can also cut the middle "finger" off the big fan leaves so it's not so obvious. Once the buds start forming, you'll need something to camouflage them or they'll really stand out.. Good luck!

Are you growing autos? If yes, pruning should be avoided.

I thought I was growing autos (was given some seeds) but it turns out half of them may be super autos because they are 6 weeks old and only just showing sex. The other autos are behaving as they should!) Cos I don't want the height of supers (in my garden!) I decided to cut the growing tips to encourage a bushier shape. I realise its common knowledge amongst auto growers to avoid pruning, but these (could be) supers are really vigorous and I'm happy they'll be fine.

You can follow grow journal thus far here:

What a crazy journey!

Hi Somerset,
the top you pinched from the plant could just be eaten, put in a tea or soup, also in a salad.
Only condition is the plant was grown in an organic way.
Won't bring any effect but they taste very interesting and can be a good spice in your food. Raw is way better than dried.

Bon apetit:)

Hi there

If you want to get high off that green leafy stuff you can. You willl need a bit more of it than that though. Generally I would use 100 - 200 grams of dried plant material and put it in 50 / 50 water and oil mixture and heat it for 90 minutes on the oven.

Once finished, strain the leafy stuff out.

Then put the water and oil mixture in the freezer. The water will freeze on the bottom and the oil will turn into a consistancy of margarine or soft butter. Scrap this off and then eat it as it, or put it on toast or make cookies out of it.

Enjoy!

:)

Hi Somerst!...
I use all the leaves and trim or broken branches during the grow like Happy described.

There is no THC and you won't get high but there are canabinoids that are good for you.
You can use any oil, imho coconut oil is the best. You can eat it as Happy suggested or make it into a nice skin cream by adding some beeswax.

You can make a tincture with everclear.
You can even juice leaves...you would need quite a lot more of them.

We try not to waste any part of the plant if possible.
Leaves can be put in the freezer until you collect enough to do what you want with them.

Enjoy and Have FUN with them!

Actually my apologises. You use 60 grams of leaf or 15 grams of bud for one cup of oil.

Here is the recipe I've spent years of my life perfecting :)

Enjoy

Liquid Ingredients
herbs (high quality trim)OR15 grams budJust over 1 cup of oil
soy lecithin granules
METHOD:

OIL - NEW Method - Makes 54 cookies

Dry Ingredients

60 grams

1 tblsp

1
Pre-heat oven to 220f / 100c

2
Grind herbs finely and spread evenly and thinly in a pyrex casserole dish and cover well with tin foil over the edges only (not onto the bottom of the dish as well).

3
Decarb finely ground herbs by placing in the PRE-heated oven for 20 - 30 mins (max). When timer goes off, TURN OFF oven and open oven door ever so slightly to allow dish to cool slowly and gently for a further 10 minutes. DO NOT remove tinfoil as this will allow some precious vapour to escape!).

4
When timer goes of,f after 10 mins, remove dish of herbs to cool further at room temperature keeping tin foil on at all times! Pre-heat oven again to 220f / 100 c

5
Melt solid oils (if using coconut oil) or warm liquid oil to ensure any potential water in the oil has been evaporated.

6
Now carefully remove the tin foil from the dish. If it tears use a new piece to continue decarbing shortly.

7
Sprinkle the lecithin evenly over the decarbed herb. Then pour over the oil. Give it a little mix. Cover .with the foil and place it back in the PRE_heated oven for 45 mins. (This is now half way through)

8
After 45 mins, remove from the oven, leaving the oven on, and allow the dish to cool at room temperature for 10 - 15 mins. Once the temp has dropped and you can comfortably touch the dish, carefully open it, keeping the foil, and pres and mash the herb with a potato masher or the back of a large slotted spoon to loosen the material into the oil.

9
Replace the foil , seal well as before and put back into the over for a further 45 mins.

10
After 45 mins turn off the heat and keeping the oven door closed, allow the dish to cool for about half an hour.

11
Now put the oil in the freezer. When completely frozen through, remove from the freezer and allow to defrost at ROOM TEMPERATURE.

12
Pre-heat the oven again to 22of / 100c to liquidfy and thin the oil for better straining.

13
Strain the oil, using muslin bags, into a storage container.

14
Use immediately or store until needed.
