Its been a week since I corrected ph with a flush and added dolomite lime. It seems to be getting alot worse with the rust spots and now one of the fan leaves doesnt have rust spots, but it looks like its just dying and becoming crispy. I havent used any nutes yet and they are on day 23. Im assuming its calmag problem but I figured the lime would fix that. Maybe I just havent given it time to recover, but since I flushed its just gotten worse. How long until things usually become healthy again? Maybe I need to feed them. They are in ffof soil and I have the ff trio.

I just calculated the ph again and that might be the problem still. When I flushed it I used 9.0 ph water until runoff became 6.7. So thats waaay low still isnt it? I even added lime but its not doing anything. I watered it for first time after flush with 8.0 ph water and runoff was 6.7. How can I raise this when it keeps lowering so bad. I think its locking out the cal mag.

the lime takes awhile to kick in man but, im confused, why do you want to raise it from 6.7? you shouldnt be locked out of cal-mag

My runoff was 6.7 and my water going in was 9.0. So that comes out to 4.4 right? Im just at a loss right now. The lime has calmag in it yes, but if the ph isnt right it wont get it?

if your soil is at 4.4 bro your gunna be locked out of pretty much everything my bad i thought u meant ur soil ph is at 6.7 but to be sure id do a slurry test..

herbalexperience taught me this..
soil test / SLURRY:
Helpful Hint: testing for pH in soil is very different than when you test in water.
Testing the runoff from a container is not always accurate as the water just drains out nutrients.
If you want to use your current pH instrument instead of one calibrated for soil,
you must test your pH with a slurry test. Take 1 cup of soil and mix with 1 cup of water.
Let it sit for 30 minutes and test away.
We recommend that everyone test their pH as it is a top cause for many plant problems,
but spend the extra money on a better meter and keep the tip clean.

Kush if your runoff was 6.7 that's what it is. 6.7. Where are you coming up wit 4.4?

You calculate the soil ph with this. I dont know why after flushing 9 gal of water through the 3 gal pot it didnt raise it. Im using a oakton ph pen that costed 60 bucks. Im pretty sure its accurate cause I calibrate it.

Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5

If worst comes too worst and you can`t sort it, you could always transplant into some basic seedling soil and allow your girl/girls to take their time too recover and let them tell you when they`re hungry again! I`m not sure if this will sort them, but I doubt it will hurt them mate(maybe just add a week or two too finishing time)! Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in...All the best mate!

What ph should the cup of water be?

What ph should the cup of water be?

first off i went back and read he said that its 1/2 cup of soil mixed with 1 cup of water..i just put 1 cup of soil in the qoute above cause it was a weird symbol when i copy and pasted so i thought it was 1 cup of soil turns out its 1/2 a cup of soil mixed with one cup of water :D

as far as water i asked the same thing and according to my man herbal..

"regardless of your water -- if the soil buffer is at ph 5.0-5.5 -- you will see the same exact result.

when i did a slurry test with my soil - i ran a side by side test

1 cup filled with my tap water (ph about 8-8.5)
1 cup filled with water ph at (6.5)

both test resulted in a 5-5.5 ph (because of my soil)

i would do a side by side to see the difference -- atleast a test with a properly phed water"
