Hey all, first post here, really exited to get started!

Ive been smoking since youth and am now a grown man with my own bills to pay. So as you can imagine ive got fed up of paying top price for awfully grown smokes! Ive toyed with the idea of growing for a long time, and it wasn't until I discover the power of modern autos that I decided to try it. My plan is pretty simple, a 3 plant 'black cream' grow in a box made up of 2 large cardboard boxes, painted white inside. Im gonna buy an extractor and carbon filter and probably use a PC fan for inlet to control temps. For lighting Im going to Hang a light fixture from the top of my old lizard tank with 2 125w CFL, having them on chains to adjust levels to give plants max light, I was also thinking of using tube lighting around the bottom 4 sides to promote more lower branches to produce buds! Im really not sure what soil and food to use as I haven't been to see whats available locally, but what is best? Does this seem like it will be any good? Im hoping to yield over an oz from the 3, does that seem plausible? My space is roughly 1.2m high by about 75cm wide by about 50cm deep, I chose black cream because I love dark coloured buds and they stay relatively small, yield well and take only 8 weeks to harvest!

Does my lighting sound OK? Am I missing much? Any advice really appreciated!

i will give you a word of warning bro, you are likely to start a fire if you use cfl's in a cardboard box mate, i would strongly advise not to do that bro

Oh really? I was told cfls would be best for the box because of their low heat... what lighting would be best for the cardboard do you think?

I have to agree with larky, I would scrap the cardboard box idea all together

Its definitely not set in stone, so that certainly is an option. I could grow in something else but Im not sure what else would conceal it well, I don't really want a tent as thats quite obvious

Seems like it would be just as easy to construct something out of plywood or MDF. It would cost you a few bucks, but you really have to think safety first.

Welcome to AFN, Hedrokka! :tiphat:
Cardboard, as you've heard, not the best way to go. As it dries from even the moderate heat from your lights, it will become paint covered tinder. :poof:
Why not swing by the intro section https://www.autoflower.org/f35/ , say how-do to the family? Post a link to this thread, too, friend; you'll be amazed at the help you get for your entire grow! :peace:

you can't spare 2x2 or so of a closet? Or! I new a dude that used 2-30 gallon totes...

The y's work well you can put 4 bulbs on one socket and they can take the weight, after that thoe it gets heavy

I would construct a tent from PVC or use a closet, but at the very least look into some "Rubbermaid Grows" like goauto mentioned. I have seen admirable results come out of those totes. Or modify an old desktop PC for a stealth PC grow. Run some searches for those two styles, and I'm sure you will find some inspiration.

Really anything other than a cardboard box.

I can't really see a PC grow being big enough to yield what I need, but I have considered building something out of plywood.that or finding an old TV cabinet and gutting it out, really keen to get started ASAP, maybe ill go see what the recycling centre has to offer in old furniture. A closet wouldn't be good as my daughter might get into it.
