I can't really say. I like cats for their independence and we have 7 outdoor cats - because mice and rats would be a problem in the semi rural environment we live in. I like dogs for their intelligence and loyalty. We have 4 dogs, Chantal an English Beagle, Rocco an unknown mix that we saved off the street 3 years ago. Bailey half beagle and half whatever Rocco is cos Rocco is his dad - and Pamela a black Frison Biche. Only Pamela is a house dog the other three dogs live outside.

Dogs give their love unconditionally and are loyal to a fault. Dogs will save an owner from a house fire 10 minutes after being beaten by the same owner.
Dogs are large, messy and require attention and care and maintenance.

Cats could care less, about almost everything and sleep three-quarters of every day. They hold grudges, the get pissy, they act out upon perceived scorn.
But when they DO give love, you can be sure you earned it through mutual respect and understanding.

Dogs are checkers, Cats are chess.

I'm a cat person but not anti-dog...Domesticated cats exhibit the most similarities, instinctual behavior and predatory inclinations compared to their untamed counterparts.
That makes them awesome.

Last night we added another dog to our pack, bring us up to 8. We're now the proud owners of Buck, a 14 month old male German Shepard. He's from the same breeder, but a different liter than our female, different parents so we'll be able to breed the two GSDs. The former owners paid big money for him and just gave him away because they said they didn't have time for him. I've got my work cut out as he's had little training. He's a beauty, black and tan, and a very loving guy. So by this time next year it looks like I'll be breeding some top of the line GSDs. Something I never expected to be doing.

I never had Shepards till we got the female a year ago. Now I absolutely love them. Everyone has accepted Buck into the pack except Rip, the female Shepard. She's just being a bitch but I'm sure she will come around.

Animal Lover all the way but Dogs are at the top of my list. I have a 7 year old half Shepherd half Rott and he is the best thing in the world to me. I wasn't in a position to take care of a dog however my ex's brother was given the dog and refused to pay for shots and also beat him, how can you beat a puppy, he was so cute.. Needless to say I took him in and it's been the best thing I've ever done, hands down..

LOL, she'll come around. Just a little jealous. She's been the baby and center of attention for the last year and now she has to share. Middle child syndrome.
