If this is regarding me closing the GN new light thread I closed it because people were getting heated about the word Boi so it's stopping and argument erupting,sometimes threads need to be closed to keep to vibe.
It looked like a conversation between rational adults to me....All the same, my pants do not have 'the vibe'.

Adults yes I dont dispute that but it came across as some were offended by a derogatory term and we don't do those here on AFN so the thread has been cleaned up.
So just modify the perceived "offensive" post to say "fanboys" instead of "fanbois". Whatever happened to context? We must use intelligence. It had zero to do with anyone's sexuality. Anyone can be offended by anything, you can't control people's perceptions, but you can determine someone's intent through context.
I just want to say that I have absolutely no idea what any one is talking about, and the boi youre referring to may be entirely different, but the way IIIIIIIII know that word, I love it lol and now that im thinking about it, would be a great word for hermaphrodite plants.

I legitimately don't understand the difference...It must be a cultural thing...Is it offensive in spoken language as well? Like is there a different in the way you say "boy" and "boi"? I'm vaguely aware from movies and stuff that "boy" was some form of derogatory comment in the days of slavery...well at least I think I was aware...
Censorship in any form sucks ass tbh. I had this really good one liner popped to mind straight after reading the indignant reply to my use of slang.... " sorry man im not homophobic some of my best friends are .....bundles of sticks" (which is true...incidentally)...
The only time, IN MY OPINION, any moderator should need to step in and moderate is if someone is being outright abusive or threatening.... micromanaging colloquial slang makes me feel like im in primary school, I is only 2 spaces on the keyboard away from Y.

This. Is boi a UK thing? Is Big Boi from Outkast considered hurtful because of his name? I'm genuinely interested as I've never heard this before and I'm fairly hip to the LGBTQ community.

Lol im finding this whole thing quite amusing I say boi and to me its meaningless, trouble is some people get offended very easily, some people may have just used that to start an argument because you went against the trend. Personally I don't mind what was said but where would it have ended? Cos when arguments start the level will rise at every response untill someone got f'off and left, by which time it would have been so far off topic I becomes stupid
