Lighting Cfl lighting specrtum, and how you could improve your end product.

I also run multi spectrum lighting with CFL's. I like threads like this. I also keep an LED with blues and reds shining too... Soon I will do a full power multi spec led and implement my cfos as added spec instead of the other way around.

Can't help but mention spectroscopy at this point. If you want to see what colors you're feeding your plant you can build a diy spectroscope for nothing. I bet you've got a box and a CD lying around. Mix them together like this: cut a slit for a lens at the top and a window at the bottom for viewing. Cut a 45 degree slit for the CD and tape it in place. Yer done.

Now take a picture of the spectrograph (the cd acts like a diffractive grating, breaking up light into its' constituent colors) and study it. Maybe you want more blues, or maybe you're a little light in the reds, no pun intended. Maybe one portion of your grow room isn't getting any mid-range PAR or see what it looks like under the canopy - you can test for light penetration the same way.

Anyway, hope you guys dig this. It can really help and it definitely changed the way I thought about light.
