Here's the specs on the 1212's they are one of the best chips out at the moment in my opinion. If your aiming for a specific wattage per cob then there is more in depth work to do. For instance driving a 1212 to 50w vs driving a 1812 to 50w will be a small benefit in the 1812 but also a price difference. Driver wise they are close to the same. 1212 requires less voltage but also higher amperage to hit higher wattages. 1812 uses higher voltage but lower amperage to hit the same watts.
I don't know enough about the clu038's to make any judgement but I do know a little about the 048's and I say it's a great option. Northern grow lights is an amazing source for components. Trust me on this I spent hours on the phone with components distributers today in hopes of lower pricing and without spending thousands it's impossible to beat there cob price by as little as a dollar. $19 for the 1812 with a $3.50 holder puts them at 15.50 each and very reasonable shipping.
