I've seen very little info her about cloning. Are autos difficult to clone? I like they idea of autos but I'm not going to blow a wad of $$$ buying seeds all the time. Are there strains that clone well?

Salutations Pop22,

I've seen very little info here about cloning. Are autos difficult to clone?

Sure enough you're not going to find such information easily since conventional cloning is most likely to fail with an "auto", although i recall there's an alternative method known as in-vitro vegetative multiplication, if i'm not mistaking...

Welcome to the AFN family, pop22! :tiphat:
You have found the spot, friend!
We'd love to have you stop by the intro section and meet the good folks here: https://www.autoflower.org/f35/
Enjoy, and don't be afraid to ask questions!

:tiphat: Welcome Pop'! ..good question, and indeed there is a good reason why you don't see it done much. It's not an issue of difficulty, but one of practicality and a pointless exercise.... Auto's will begin flowering with the first month, often sooner, and there's basically no stopping or delaying it, unlike photo's where veg'ing can be extended with light cycling; the plants age is marked literally at the cellular level, so when you take a cutting of an auto, say, at 3 weeks age, you haven't reset the clock in any way... the plant still thinks it's 3 weeks old! Even if you get it to root up, it'll begin blooming right away, with little to no increase in size... I've seen pics of cloned auto's that were blooming nicely,...at 3-4" tall! :WTF:
I get what you mean about seed costs bro',... and price is no real indicator of quality either! :stoneslap: I can tell you that the big seed houses are hardly the only place to find seeds, fem'ed or otherwise; the very best deal out there for quality, well documented strains is at RCMC "wg's Cool" Look them up here in the seed forum! Many of our own in-house breeders sell their seeds through them; they ship world-wide, and always you get freebies, and I don't mean 2-3, but a pack of 10, usually... :dance2: again, best of all, you can see fully documented grows of many strains they have, right here, so you know what you're getting! Last i checked, a 10-12 pack of seeds, regardless of breeder, is only $45 bucks! Add the freebies in, and the deal is unbeatable!... shipping is modest, from what I've seen reports of... Happy Hunting mate!

Now thats an answer I can like! thanks for this info! I'm into this for my own medica needs, and just for the fun of i! And I needed a new hoby too fill these drab winter months!

It's possible but hard as hell. Your clones will keep the same time in life as the mother. So unless done very early in the life cycle of the mother, it's not worth keeping a mother around. A Cannabis ruderalis plant came to life as an outsider in the marijuana fields in Mexico. These were genetics that learned to adapt to a smaller spring and thus a waterless end of season. They ended up being so adaptable outside of the care of constant attention, that they became an oddity. Able to grow where their brethren of the same breed would fail. PoP, Grow, flower and die. Quick Quick Quick! So, cloning is hard, done very early in the mothers life, you will get product. But it's about the same had you not cloned in the first place... They look something like this. Small and nothing to them.
