Grow Mediums Coco 1st time confused on watering?

Regrettably for making choices of watering regimens simple, coco is very adaptable. In fact, as you've surely encountered, there are many that recommend multiple daily feedings, while others recommend thorough wet (drain-to-waste)--drying out cycles.

As long as you keep the coco from getting near the drying-out light-weight range, the plants will do their thing, and likely not do anything different based on feeding schedules. What matters is the roots having access to water bound to coco particles, and coco particles do this well. These plants grow well over a wide range of soil moisture content. I presume most strains overall prefer being more on the dry side or cyling to this, but others will say otherwise, such as the extreme constant watering with AutoPots and hard-core hydroponics.

I'm lazy. I water 3 and 5 gallon Air-Pots twice a week. So my plants generally have enough coco that I could probably avoid watering for 5 days or even a week and not have problems, particularly while smaller during the grow/veg phase. I've even gone from sprout to bloom just doing one drain-to-waste feeding. I (and you should consider) also feed foliarly using Transport/Optic Foliar.

Autopots. Extreme watering. Yes. But man they do work. Some impressive grows. So not sure what the heck plants like. Maybe weed is ok with any and all of the above watering approaches. Just pick one that you like and follow the rules and you'll grow booming plants. I personally don't have enough experience yet to have any opinion what is the best way to water. I'd love to try them all eventually.

Autopots might be looked at as extreme watering. But its not unhealthy like over watering is. I am no botanist or farmer even, but I think autopots must be mimicking something that does exist in the outdoors and nature. Like a water table maybe.

Hey there,does the pot appear to have some weight still or feel light[/QUOTE

I would say it has 50% between totally saturated and a dry coco pot.

@Unique @Need4Weed @AutoWonders

Sincere thanks to all of you for your time.
I would probably start giving feed then, they look around day 15th-ish and starting on 4th set true leaves, so is certainly not to soon to start feeding. I would be giving early growth nutrients around this time... I noticed you mention about run-off and all that... but really that comes down to how precise you are with your ph, if your 100% certain everything in range, really people like me who do two feedings a day don't go for run-off... just enough to keep things damp, auto's really love wet dry cycles IMO...I'm sure many won't agree about the run-off thing, but that works fine for me, I always feed that way..Plus I'm very confident my ph is dead on & also my ppm.. I mix well between adding nutrients, I not worry about lock-out or anything else. My plants do fine without run-off...

yeah I think perlite is good to add, helps keep coco from compacting IMO and allows roots moves easily...

Totally agree with that. A good 40% perlite. Especially for the seedling phase. Need that less compact medium so the young roots can grow. Also I think it helps reduce risk of over watering.
