I am new to growing. I am looking at the 32x32 tent with 2-4 auto plants in 3 gallon pots in coco coir with the blumats automatic watering system for it. I am looking at doing the perpetual harvest where you plant at different times to where you could harvest 1-2 plants every 4-6 weeks. I do not want to use soil as I read that coco has less bug problems than soil. I want as little maintenance as possible which is why I am looking at doing the blumats for it. I read with blumats with coco you do not need to do runoff for it.

It looks like many of the people using blumats are using soil. Has anyone used it with coco? Do you do 100% coco or do you mix perlite in? I have read that normally people put perlite in the coco though with blumats the few I found that used it often did 100% coco for it. I am looking at using the canna a + b liquid nutrients for it unless there are recommendations for a different one for it. Do you think there is a better line of nutrients for it that would work with the blumats on there for it?

One different thing. Is there a way to use the blumats with only water then once a week hand water with liquid nutrients or would it need the nutrients with every watering? Is there any kind of nutrients I can mix in with the coco instead of using liquid nutrients and use only water for the whole grow on there for it?

u Can mix dry amendments with coco l. Gaia green, roots organic makes a dry powder u mix in. I’ve never ran it that way so you’ll have to look around to see who is and get an idea from them. Good luck

Thanks. I am now thinking it may be easier to try hand watering the plants for the first grow then may try the blumats in the future if I want to on there for it.

Hand watering is Probably a good idea.... I have used blumats in several different mediums and they have failed in each.

When they failed they went wide open and drained the reservoir through the pot and onto the floor.

Supposedly they work very well in real dirt... but I got away from soil grows decades ago.

YMMV

I'd get an ec meter and monitor your runoff

Thanks. I think the blumats are interesting but I think that it may be the better thing to do the hand watering for the first grow to learn then maybe try the blumats with 1 plant and work from there if I want to try it on there for it. Which ph meter and ec meter would you recommend on amazon on there for it?

I use earthbox jr and coco coir it works well.
I tried blumats with coco and 1 gallon pots.
I liked the earthbox better, I was never really able to get the drip rate right.
Earthbox is simple, just fill the reservoir with nutrient solution.
