Live Stoner Chat Colorado retail weed. Rip off.

Thanks for the replies hank & pop22! Helps me to better understand the high retail price. :tiphat:

What they are saying is if market drives the price to $400 an ounce, then add 30% tax
your paying another $130 in tax! or a $30 gram becomes $39. I don't know about you, but that's a big hike to me! So if people increase their grows, or go back to buying from street dealers because its cheaper, well that opens a whole new can of worms!

Its going to take some time to balance things out. I would think that the price should drop down to 250-300 a zip in a short time. If shop owners keep up the extreme retail cost its going to drive it back under ground.

Demand is high yes but its not like with the passage of 64 everyone that never smoked pot started smoking and drove the price up.

you don't need a license to grow tomatoes but that doesn't mean they couldn't make you need one, Washington state already has banned private grows. So we need to fight to keep it. And the constitution covers other rights with the need to be specifically stated.

I cant seem to find in our constitution or bill or rights that its a right.
Its not a right its a privilege, a license is a license.
I have the right to grow dope in Colorado and give it away but i need a license to sell it.

You don't yet.........that's my point. they could change that if they shoot themselves in the foot with the taxes. then it will be YOUR fault they aren't making enough money...not saying any of this will happen, but the possibility exsists if people decide they are getting over taxed.

No need for a license to grow but I think you need one to sell tomatoes.
I-502 had nothing to do with private grows or allowing people to do so. Its a Initiative not an amendment to a state constitution.
Huge difference.
I-502 was very clear to about needing a license to grow.

It really sucks that they are over charging, and taxing it to death. I still wish I lived there, so my grow show would be legal. I would even be willing to be ripped off, in dry times. Major props to Colorado and Washington voters.

Interesting--the tax issues. Just like alcohol.

If medical canna is prescribed--can a state really tax the medicine. Don't think medications by prescription are taxed.

Medical is still taxed a regular sales tax but know "sin" tax in the springs I can still get a desencend ounce for about 175.00 out the door. Here in colorado springs check out weedmaps

Paying a tax is never fun, and always seems to somehow take advantage of the situation. On the other hand the tax angle is a major boon to getting it legalized for recreational use... I am not in favor, but if it gets the job done and as long as I can grow my own.

Our second amendment isn't a privilege we have the right to bare arms, the hunting yes its is but at the same time if there was no such thing as mcdonalds that would still be our means of food so really that dosnt make any since at all we need a license. And growing is not a right its a privilege rights are given to us by god not our government, Land of The Free more like Land of the Fee, because even our KNown RIGHTS we have to pay for! not trying to start anything hank my brother just wanted to state that Linceses and Rights dont go together but for some reason our government has mad the public believe that they control or rights when that is not the case! Because 3 years ago you would not have said you have "The Right" to grow because it was still illegal, but now that its legel you can say that but the government doesn not decide whats a right or not those are already set in stone. My point is Just because the government passes a law doesnt make it a right in their eyes its just another priviledge.
