first of all, greetings from Serbia :)

sorry for my bad english,I hope you will understand me

my grow space 120x120x200 (cm)
im planing to build 4 diy cob panels..total of 600w from the wall..each 150w

so i just need your conformation that everything is ok..i accept every opinion,i will need your help.
open for negotiate :D

so here how i thouhgt to do it.

20 pcs of CITIZEN 117.5W LED Chip 3500K CITILED cob module CLU048-1212C4-353H6K2
powered by 20 pcs http://www.ebay.com/itm/391134587736 each on 900mA..each cob on 30w..
5 cobs per panel..150w per panel
20 of theese heat sinks https://m.fasttech.com/products/0/10001927/1348407-1506025mm-aluminum-heatsink
and 20 of theese chinese fans http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro..._dcat=131487&rt=nc&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo&_udhi=2 to cool it down.each on 9v,i need to keep noise down..Im sleeping in the same room wheres my grow tent.

i will need your help for choosing some reflectors for theese cobs from ebay,i think i will need it..to get better penetration?

so,do you recomande something else..like 600mA or,diffrent drivers..differend cobs..anything?

noise is a big isue for me,heat also..thats why im going with led.
i want to have it soundless and cool..of course if it is possible? :)

i would order everything exeppt heat sinks from e bay.to my friend at Austria Wiena.
than he will ship me parts to Serbia.
Because customs and fees would kill me in other case :D

i would stay with citizen cobs 1212 becouse of price(cree is to expensive for me)
and also next generation if citizen cobs is expensive also because of shippment.
so yeah 1212 cobs all the way :D

waiting for reply,thank you :)

Hello and welcome to our forum.Sounds like a good plan.I don't no alot about diy lights but we have a few people who no more on this subject but it might take awhile to get a reply so just hang in there.:welcome:

Thank you.
Nice forum..I will need some time to get along with it :-)
I think we all have a lot of time xD

Smoking some white russin x big devil xl

Thank you on,all :-)
Im realy wrecked right now,a canot write right now.only small simple sentences..:-D

Hey bastovan! I don't know as much as id like to know about DIY but I'm always willing to help where I can.

Since northern grow lights is out of stock you should check cdi for any additional components. They have the largest selection of cobs and cob parts. Chip holders, reflector and reflector adapters.

20 drivers is a lot of work and a lot of failure points. I assume any driven driver will get warm as well. Where 1 driver driven to 150w vs 5drivers at 30 watts would be much cooler.

Also take into consideration driver losses are almost a direct reflection on efficiency losses. A mean well is 95% efficient. A cheaper model could claim any efficiency but it's up to you to decide if you trust those numbers

If your going for active cooling which the fan link shows you will also need a heat sink to mount the cobs and fans which can get expensive too. Then noise which you talked about possibly being an issue. 20 fans will be loud enough to keep anyone up. Especially less expensive fans. For this I would HIGHLY recommend northern grow lights 105mm passive pin heat sinks. They are $10.75 each. No need for additional expensive heat sink material and no need to wire up 20 noisy fans that will also need another driver. Best of luck with your project and please feel free to ask away. Is this something you will document? It would be a great way to give back to the community. If not a few photos would help as well.

bigSmo..first of all I would say that you have some good info in your sleeve :d you seem as modest person, you said that your are not expert..but words say otherwise :)

cdi is which company,I hope its company from europe or china..because parts from USA would be to expensive for mee..because of shippment prices.

so its best to use 1 driver per panel, its power divided to 5 cobs?
I think I undertand you.Same 150w,just less heat and less wiring and possible problems.

I would also take in considiration your advices about mean well drivers, good info thare..

About cooling, heat sinks and fans..i agree with you again.i told you you are some kind of an expert :d
I will look up in those heat sinks def.
yeah,I would also like to avoid cheap fans from china, and wiring all those parts.

you think that those heat sinks could stand good for heat coming from those cob runing at 30w each?
how many of those heat sinks would i need for 5 cobs running at 30w each..? and one driver ?

Problem is that Im not expert in led and wiring all those parts,so the real creator of this plan is my friend from vutra.org
He adviced me to register here and seek advices from you good people also :) So ai will ask a lot of boring and stupid questions, sorry for this in advance.. xD

And i think this part is most important here (me registering to this forum) :P

Also, what kind of man would i be..i I would ask infos and help for my plans and diy led grow light.
and than not sharing ups and downs and all those steps with you..
pictures are the easiest parts, dont worry :)

Thanks man, since DIY is newer to afn I figure if I can help as much as possible and also promote Feedback things will take off here. I do love to help especially with my passion of DIY and indoor growing.

Cdi is USA based but if your buying items like cobs or holders the duties/tax should be lower compared to larger items I would hope.

1 driver per panel is the best. If your using ideal holders they have a 250v max if you use bjb holders they have a 150 max so take that into consideration with multiple cobs. But I think you should be ok. Easy math. For the 1212's 35v x # of cobs= total voltage. Mean well is the most common driver I see used. I have about a dozen of them and they seem to fit the mould very well.

Heat sinks could be an issue shipping. The passive pin style heat sinks are the cheapest form here in the USA but again shipping could be a problem. Check notrhern grow lights out. The 105mm is rated for up to 35w each. Timber grow lights uses them with his 50w cobs and even though I disagree they stay cool with a slight breeze so your choice of 35w would stay much cooler. I'm actually doing some testing on the 120mm without any air movement on 50w cobs and the max temp in 80f degree ambient is 120f.

How about this, let's spend some time ironing out your choices of parts that fit your needs and shipping costs. I do have suggestions but you definitely don't need to follow them either. But once that's up and going you could do a small build journal which would make it easier for me and others to follow along and learn from. Them we can also assist in the actual build when you have questions. I'm actually working on parts for another build myself and I will also document every nut and bolt on another thread. The more DIY and DIY builds the easier and safer or is for everyone.

yeah a build journal is a must.Dont worry,I will do that..but first..we ll have some ironing to to as you said :D

duty/tax and all that is main problem here..In Serbia of course..Austria is a diffrent story of course :)
I allready sent email to northern light company..I will contact cdi guys also.

I think i will go with one driver per led panel as you said.Mean well..because its already checked.Less wiring and all that stuff..

I will try to buy at least 10 of those heat sinks if shipping and all other cost are big..
At least for 2 led panels..

maybe they have some similar heat sinks in china or in europe..that would be easier and cheaper for me of course.

Regular heat sink is usually 6 inches by what ever length you require. The pin fin heat sink would be one per cob. Being in Serbia the longer material instead of individual might be the least expensive.
