Ive been reading a lot on this forum and Ive found myself confused. I was uder the impression that Autos were not sensitive to light but I see that a lot of people talking about setting their plants to veg at 18/6 and flowering at 12/12 just like photosensitive plants. Can I keep my plants at a constant lighting schedule or do I have to adjust for vegging and flowering?

Hey seeker!

you can grow Auto's on either 24/0 20/4 or 18/6 as a rough guide.

The jury is out as to which is best, some say there is no diff. I use 20/4 myself as they come out fine and I save a bit of expensive electricity by not going the full 24hour.

12/12 is not required to induce flowering as in Photo periods. You pick a slot and stick with it. The genetics of Auto's take care of the flowering.

So, to answer your question, yes you can. No adjustments are necessary.

Enjoy, eP.

You use the same light cycle all the way through. I haven't seen anybody growing autos and changing light cycles though. Do you remember who it was?:Sharing One:

Best bet wouldn leave light schedule the same throughout the grow, someone like me who runs perputual a lot of times space dependent I will veg most of the plant under 18:6 and than will throw into my auto photo tent.... If you wait until vertical growth stops before throwing into 12/12 you suffer negligible yield differences.... Since my 12/12 tent has a 1,000w mh and a chrome 270 in there even though it's on 12/12 I would say actually a few times I got better yields on 12/12 from same auto that was under longer but less intense light...
My advice; KISS method is your friend no need to change lightening schedule unless you have a reason to....
