Ok, all you veteran outdoor Auto growers. What type of containers have you had the best success with for growing Autos outdoors?

I will be growing in a hoophouse with TLO soil (non- gorilla grow).

I will be using 7 gallon containers, and I'm leaning towards Smartpots. They are a bit spendy, but not near as much as Airpots, and I will need 10 + of them.

I was first thinking about black plastic containers, but it sounds like there is a good chance of the roots getting cooked. Also was considering the white plastic bag containers, but have read of too many problems with drainage issues. But, if I am wrong on either of these issues, please straighten me out.:D

I believe I read somewhere here on the forum that Cres uses 20 gallon tubs, and plants 4 or 5 per tub. I'm not opposed to that method either!:thumbs:

Also this will be my first growing attempt. This dummy needs all the help he can get, so my first grow is not a complete failure.

Thanks all for your input.

I think reg black nusery pots would be fine.If your worried about the roots getting to hot you could put some leaves or mulch around the pots to keep the direct sunlight from cooking them.

I've used standard nursery type black pots outdoors as well as black plastic grow bags. Even in extended periods of 90+ degree temps I've not had problems with the roots getting fried. IMO 7 gallon are a bit of overkill unless you're growing supers or some of the bigger DP stains. For dwarf strains a 3 or 4 gallon pot is usually sufficient.

I picked up a 5 pack of 5 gallon HydroFarms brand of smart pot with handles.30 Bucks with free shipping and Im growing four in those since they seem superior to the standard smart pot so far anywho.Handles are superior as well as the bag keeps its shape better as well.

What strains are you growing?
For my Auto's,
[FONT=&quot]Ghaze X C99 , some Dragons, and Dragon crosses.

Also, will be growing three different HighRise photos strains, which I will be growing in 33 gallon tubs.
