Grow Room Controlling height

I am curious, if growing in a controlled but compact environment with total light control, does it make more sense to grow a normal (non-auto) version and just cut the light to less than 12 hours as soon as the plant is as tall as you want - maybe a foot tall?

It depends what your looking for? I can assure you, NO Photo Plant can out-produce an auto.(unless it's vegged for months)...By that I mean if you veg a photo 2-3wks which is basically the min anyways, then switch to 12/12 you'd be lucky if that hauled an oz...but auto with same 90 day grow time or what-ever your looking for can easily produce 8+ oz or better. so like I said it depends what your looking for a tiny ass plant that will last ya maybe a week or one that would last until your next harvest??? choice easy for me..:pass:

BTW, once ya cut the light , lets say if you did switch when the photo was 1ft tall, you need take in account the stretch when switching to 12/12, some will double, some triple, some do not do stretch.... many variables to consider.

Better would be to find very short autos. Breeder descriptions are helpful.

My 2 cents [emoji4]
First of all tjeck out my grow journals.
My tents is 40x40x120 cm small
0.8 gal. Bucket with Top feed (hydro).
I never look at size on the strains I grow.
L.s.t. supercrop. pinching. F.i.m. topping. Is your friend maintaining small plants. Lot of work, specially under preflower stretch.
I average 1.25 gpw. With led (veg) HP's flower.
My new approach to low stretch during preflower is..more light (cobs).yes the plant will properly turn a funky colour but I can assure it will not stretch as much.and will not affect yeild.
It's possible to do hydro in small spaces.
But I'm not saying it's easy [emoji6]
Good luck and stay green

Outa everything here, gatorbackbob picked up on it... dump hydro if your trying to keep the size on the smaller side! Dwc, flood and drain, coco... all breed monsters...

The way to control height is LST. Check the picture
