Just wandering if there is any difference in the two for heating/light dispersion?

i would say most air cooled hoods will have a bigger spread of light and might lose slightly less but i only have a cooltube myself so cant compare directly.

Tubes are far superior for a vertical grow and hoods are way better at light dispersal for overhead, depending on the quality of the hood of course.
