Extraction Creams

Several people here do topicals.
What are you looking for?

Hmm... knee/joint pain, arthritis for my mom and grandmom.
And I don't know how to say... like dermatitis but not that much... itchy, red skin - you want to rip off skin.

I found all kind of recipes but they're all the same: coconut oil, olive oil (or something else), bee wax and aroma. No info about decarb, what kind of cannabis (THC or CBD, leaves of buds etc.), ideal temps and time etc...

For muscle/joint pain, arthritis and skin issues the cannabis does not need to be decarbed.
Some skin issues like psoriasis also respond well to canna oil ingested. I don't decarb that either.

The material you use can be trim, leaves and stems...popcorn buds...

Also...for the joint pain, magnesium chloride can be added for a plus!

@KonopCh

Have you made topicals yet? Or are you just getting started?

There are different methods and materials all done about the same way with the same result.
By not decarbing cannabis in topicals you get the thca with anti-inflammatory properties.

I use unprocessed coconut oil but other oils will work depending on how you want it to turn out. Olive oil is greasier but tastes better. Avocado oil tastes good, is good for your skin and infuses well with cannabis.
I use a crock pot on low or warm...It should never boil, don't cover (if you have to cover, use a paper towel under the lid so condensation won't get in the oil).
Cannabis must be fully submerged in the oil. I don't measure, I eyeball it. Cook for a couple of hours...depending on color and smell. If it smells like it's roasting, get it off the heat.

Let it cool before you strain it!
What you strain it with depends on how large a batch you do and how small your cannabis material is. Cheese cloth, unbleached coffee filters, pantyhose, bubble bags. I use a ricer and a permanent coffee filter as my final straining.

Then set up a double boil or water bath system. I use a Mason jar lid under the measuring cup.
For topicals, I add cocoa butter but other butters like shea work too.
And bees wax. Use a spoon or drop test to tell how much.
Beeswax melts at 140 F to 150 F (60 C to 65 C)

Set the container of oil in a cool, dry place. Let it cool completely to a solid. Don't rush it, the more oil you have the longer it will take.
Then I use a regular hand mixer to whip it into a rub.

This is the time you can add Magnesium Chloride oil.

Wow, thank you! Just one question - why hand mixing at the end? It's softer/fluffier or what?

I already did it with organic coconut oil, olive oil, beeswax and lavender. I decarbed trim (month ago), today I just mix cannabutter with oils and other stuff mentioned on top. It has the same colour as yours... still cooling, we'll see tomorrow how's on touch. But smells great (lavender).

The oil cools to a solid, whipping it makes it soft, but if it gets too cold will be hard again. And this is a good time to add mag oil.
You are softening the beeswax when you whip it...the coconut oil melts with body temp.
You need less wax in warmer weather, more in the cold

Great! Please be sure to let us know how it turns out!
:hookah:

@Root I think I added too much cannabutter (200g from 60g trim - 1 tablespoon and goodbye). Can I dilute my creams or not?
That recipe I used: 200g cannabutter (coconut oil), 50g olive oil, 50g beeswax.
