Has anyone experienced their credit card company not allowing overseas purchases recently? I just tried to place another bean order, at the end of each process it was immediately canceled; I tried three separate times. I communicated back and forth with the merchant a couple times and they finally suggested that I contact my CC company and request to have the 'overseas' restriction lifted. I've never experienced this before. I didn't know that any CC company had authority to restrict purchases without client's knowledge and permission.

Yeah, they restrict purchases all the time to protect themselves from paying out fraudulent credit card uses. If you call them and tell them you want to make an overseas purchase they will lift that restriction and you'll be good to go. Shouldn't take more than 2 minutes on the phone with your card issuer. Good luck.

Yup...

It's a bummer...my bank allowed it the first time, then called me and told me they had shut down the number and re-issued my debit card
with a different number. Their justification was identity theft with overseas transactions.

And now you can't even make the purchase with an anonymous prepaid credit card because they have kiboshed out-of-country web
purchases with those too. And the other prepaids require you to register them with your personal info.

From what I understand, you can call the cc company and have them approve a "one-time" deal but then there's a huge lens
focused on what you're doing...

Thanks for your responses, I learn something new every day. So...what's a boy to do...any suggestions?

The short answer is get a better bank. Mine doesn't do this but I think my bank is active duty and veterans only.
