Hi this is my first post and I was wondering if anyone can confirm what I have heard. I heard that taking the whole plant, roots and all for curing is best because the plant feeds on every last bit of stored energy and food it has so it cleans up the flavor even more and maybe gains potency . So I am curious if this is best. The thread I read said that's how tobacco is cured so the plant can clean itself up for you. Thanks in advance for your responses (WW,Sweet cheese,La musa ,BB2

Hi Peardu,

I dried plants both ways an could not notice an difference, just my experience. Roots do have value, check out

As to how tobacco is cured, all of it that I have seen is cut above the ground and hung upside down to dry in well ventilated sheds. Curing is a completely different step after the leaves are removed from the stalk and allowed to regain a certain amount of moisture.

That root rub is interesting, I will be sure to try it next harvest.
I tried to dry plant with the roots but I ended up with some soil on my buds cause I hung the plant upside down and apparently did not get all the soil off the roots. I also did not see a difference as compared to cutting the plant above soil and drying it that way.
