Ok i know the curing range is 60-65% RH.

if 55-60% RH in jars is good for long term storage is it still curing at this stage?

ive read the perfect cure thread it it talks about dropping levels over many weeks but if you just dried them to say 57% RH and put it away would it still cure? or only at 60-65% RH?

thanks guys

It will stll cure no matter what RH you have. The general rule is the slower the better.I never worry about RH levels but I have been doing it so long I just know by the feel of it weather or not it's to moist or too dry.

I was going to post a new thread here but this is the same issue. I'm finishing my second grow ever. The first one I over dried before I ever got it jarred. This time I am tiptoeing into harvest. I precut two buds on a trial run. I left them out 3 days (only?) and dropped them in a small container with a hygrometer to see what's up after (only) 3 days to intentionally come in on the high (scuse the pun) After 8 hrs jarred it was 73%. I left them out and when I put them back in the container 14 hours later the RH came up 63%. A 10% drop in 14 hours? Anyway they've been jarred ever since and opened once daily for only minutes. 6 days of that and the hygrometer in there says 59%. I don't want it any lower so I'm reluctant to open it much more.

Point is the stuff seems to dry with the greatest of ease. Guidance on curing varies widely. From opening the jars an hour a day the first week to only moments. From what I see I'm inclined to open for moments just to exchange gasses and already go to burping weekly.

Advice? Comments?

I like this advice from this forum:
60-65% - this is the Curing stage range. Once we hit this range, keep things sealed unless we want to prepare it for long-term storage, then we'll need to SLOWLY lower down to the next stage. But if you just want to cure it, leave here in this range for a week and longer to cure

But what does it mean if you just want to cure it leave in this range for a week or longer to cure? You don't need to burp?

Once you get it dried to where it still has a little give and the stems snap when you bend them you should be able to leave the jar closed and not have to burp them/

Thank you, namvet. It's starting to seem like the dry is to expel excessive moisture and the burping to slowly release moisture till it's where you want it. If it gets too dry before jar I guess you're at cross purposes. You have to burp it some to release the chlorophyll but at the cost of drying it even more....

I try and do one day of air drying per 10-15% RH in the room they're drying in(plus or minus a day, just a guideline to follow), then first week in jars burp once a day quickly (20 seconds or so, give the jar a gentle shake to move buds around) just for air exchange. Then second week once every two days for about a minute or so with a shake as well, after that it's usually good to leave sealed for multiple weeks.
