Dark Devil Autoflower First Time Grow - Are my plants sick?

What day are you on?You will loose some leaf to the under feeding..but you should be fine..may take about a week of xtra feeding to show some results but it should slowly get better..did you wash your coco before use? Some coco needs it i hear..I use soil also but I played with coco lift test is good ...Salt depends on the brand of nutes I would guess..I use Sea Grow its cheep and I dont worry about salt At all..I havent checked runoff in forever or even get runoff LOL I like to water often so I feed enough for 1 day so I can make any changes if I see a problem..If the same happens to you it will be 4 days before its dry..but then again you use coco and thats easy to flush and doenst hold more then can fit in the pot..NO pics?We are here to help..if im slow to answer hit me with a PM :d5::smokebuds:

I'm on day 52 DAB. Right okay that makes sense. No I didn't wash my coco before hand, which after what you've said and what I've read is something i'm definitely going to do next time. Ah I see lol, do you get on well using that method? I kinda thought you had to get run off each time you watered to ensure that the roots are encouraged to go down more? On average how much water would you say they get each day? That's cool thanks DAB, it's nice knowing I've people to help and offer advice :) I'll get some pics taken and put up when I get home from work later. Cat :)

So then Cat.. First & foremost.. Did you buy calibration fluid pH 4 & 7 with you pH meter? Uncalibrated .. Sadly it's probably lying to you.. If calibrated..

Your run off is telling you that the pH of your medium is to low.. Especially for a plant in bloom.. If it's going in at over 6 & coming out at below 5.5 I'd hazard a guess that your coco is sitting around 5.1-5.2pH.. I reckon you need to flush those girls with some PLAIN water.. My tap water comes out at around 7 pH.. If you have some of that then flush those pots out real good.. About 3x the capacity of your pot.. 10L pot = 30L water... Sowly

Then check pH again (with calibrated page pen ;)

This is all good learning for you Cat.. This is what it's all about..

You'll be growing healthy green ladies in no time.. Wait n' you see

Hey Kush. Yeah I got pH 4 & 7 buffer solution but just used the 7 for calibrating the meter as that's what the booklet said? Wasn't quite sure why I needed the 4, does mean the reading was wrong?

Yeah I guessed that may be what's happening with the coco :( I was all geared up for flushing them when I got in this evening but I've just checked and without saying it too loudly...there looks to have been some improvements! :) The leaves that were already drying and crisping are still deteriorating and some still don't look too happy but I'd definitely say that the new growth is healthy and new bud is developing nicely! I'm much happier than I was this time yesterday. Do you think that I should hold off on the flush and monitor closely over the next couple of days?

Haha thanks Kush :) Yeah even though it's been stressful at times it's still been a thoroughly enjoyable experience!

I dunno Cat.. If it was me I'd still flush... The pH in your substrate is off.. What's the pH of your tap water?

It's about 7. With flushing do I have to wait untill the pots are dry before I can feed them again or Is it a case of once I've flushed and got pH 7 run off I can feed them straight away? Thanks Kush

Flush em out.. You want a pH in around 6-6.3 in the root zone So your plain tap should raise it as it's around 7.. As for feeding straight away.. Yeah I'd run some in.. Don't go mad coz the root zone is gonna be drenched.. Maybe just a L of feed each.. Make sure the feed pH is in the correct zone.. Check some run off coming out.. Then let that dry out some.. At least a couple of days..

It's a lot of work..

Just so you know Cat I've never had to flush a plant due to wrong pH.. Or grown in coco for that matter.. So I hope this all works out for you.. :smokebuds:

Right then Kush. The girls have had their flushing! I used my plain tap water which was reading 7.2. After flushing 14 litres through the coco I took a Ph reading which came out at 6.3 for all of the plants! :) I took your advice and have them a slow 1L feed each right at the end and measured the run off which came out at 6.3! I know the cocos heavily saturated but I thought even if some of the nutes escape hopefully the majority will go into the coco and help the girls regeneration.

Nah that's cool Kush no worries. I appreciate all your help so far :) I would be extremely lost without all the kind help and support I'm receiving in here :) Cat

Nice.. :kusht: Now let them dry some.. No more water for a couple of days minimum.. If still heavy after that leave watering until the pots get reasonably light.. But not too light.. Not when in flower.. 50/50 damp/dry.

What brand of nutes are you using cat? & are they chemical or organic?

We just like to spread the love here at AFN Cat.. We like to see are fellow members doing well..

Cheers Kush :) Right ok. I have been slightly confused when It come to watering and how often. That's really good advice about them being 50/50 before watering. Is it harder to overwater them when they are flowering?

I was using Canadian xpress but I've just changed to advanced nutrients as there's far more trace elements and other useful bits in there. I'm using Sensi Bloom A + B as well as big bud and bud candy. Are these ok would you say? Are they chemical nutes?

That's good to know Kush :) I already feel very welcome indeed :)
