Delicious Seed: Sugar Black Rose

It has been a while since I grew this seed but I remember a fairly easy plant to grow with a lot of power and flavor. The old style Mars 100X3 has two diodes out but I am going ahead with the grow, I think I caused this problem by placing the light too close to the top of the tent (too hot) last grow. I am using a small tent, 2'X3'X5', a 6in duct booster fan and carbon filter for extraction, 6in clip-on fan for circulation, 5 gallon airpot, pro-mix BX for grow medium, almost all of the Fox Farm dirty dozen nute package with filtered water on a light 20/4 schedule. The pro-mix, 5.8ph, was given a gallon of 10ml kangaroota, 10ml micro brew and 10ml kelp me at 6.8ph two weeks ago and another gallon of 10ml kangaroots at 6.7ph four days ago and the medium is now about 6.5ph. The seed was germinated with the old poke and pray method, last Friday I soked the seed in plain water until it sinks and stays at the bottom of the glass for a few hours. Poke a shallow hole in the center of the pot and pray. Believe it or not it works most of the time, over 85% for me. Led is at about 14 inches and will move up to about 16 inches by weeks end. I have had very good results with this light for a few years and will be replacing with another Mars product. I am very lazy and don't LST or anything else unless I have too. I expect this grow to go about 70 days.

Looking good! I'm subbed for your grow. Poke n pray works well for me too as long as I plant the seed with the taproot facing down. Otherwise it's a mess lol.

Day 4 and the plant is doing well, about 2.5 inch spread and good color. So far I have just given plain water at 6.5 ph and now have the circulating fan on low just shaking the plant to promote strong stem development. I really like this light for this tent and my style of growing, even with room temps in the upper 70'sf my temp at soil level is right at 80f and extraction fan at 3/4 speed. Now that summer is in full swing I have to keep the supplemental T5 corner lights off so only the LED for this grow.

Day 8 and the plant is starting to show some growth, 5 inch spread, and still has good color. This morning I watered with 1 gallon of 4ml per gal of Sensi cal/mag extra (4-0-0) at 6.5 ph. I think this will be all until day 14 or so when I will give a first shot of nutes. LED is now at 18 inches and I will let the plant grow up to about 16 inches before I raise again. I try to pick plants that stay between 20 and 30 inches tall, mainly because I am too lazy to lst, and just stick some bamboo stakes around the edge of the pot for branch support and separation.

Day 14 and the plant is showing good growth and color with an almost 12 in spread. Today she (I think) got 2 gallons of 10 ml big bloom and 2.5 ml of grow big, micro brew and kelp me at 6.5 ph. If the plant takes this well I will increase the nutes to what I normally give, about twice as much. The led is at 18 inches.

Yes indeed. It still isn't time for anything yet just want to show, its a girl. I ordered a reflector 96 over last weekend and it got here yesterday, saved $15 over amazon going to mars site. Maybe I can wait and finish this grow and than do another SBR just for fun, maybe not.

Day 19 and this girl got 2 gallons of 8ml per gal of Sensi cal/mag extra (4-0-0) at 6.5 ph. I can't wait for this grow to be over before I use my new light, why test, of course it will grow a better plant. I will leave the 100X3 in the tent until the buds start to appear, about 10-14 days I guess, the veg mode in the reflector is less watts (better par value). The plant is developing a very good stem and branch structure and I don't like fixing something that's not broken. This reflector will give off more heat but I still can increase both circulation and extraction fans so temp should not be an issue. I expect this new light to get deep into the plant and improve the bud size, thickness and resin production. I know a lot of growers say the more light the better plant but I think every size tent has a sweet spot, where you can get the best of everything, good yield, good taste, good smell and good effect. Anyway I am having fun, staying stoned and living the dream, ha, ha. LED is at 18 inches.
