Wassup AFN i was just wondering if it's okay to dim or increase the power of the bulb/ballast while it's turned on and running or is it recommended to always turn off before dimming, then turn back on? :smokebuds:

Thanks guys i don't ever want to mess up the bulb or ballast so just curious if it matters or not :peace:

I believe dimming/overpower the power to bulbs shortens their life. As for how to do it I'd refer to the ballast manual/web site. Some ballast do a slow dimming over 10 minutes some it's better to turn it off. What brand of ballast is it?

It's an Apollo ballast, I've always ran it at 100% but for the first time I switched it to 75% and i was actually looking at the bulb and saw it dim some.. I just wasn't sure if that's bad on the bulb to lower or increase wattage while it's on and running :smokebuds:

The biggest concern is when you turn it off not to turn it back on till it has cooled.. I switch mine all the time and and never had any issues....and besides I like to get a new bulb every 2 or 3 grows any way...if funds permitt.
