Full day of work on my last DIY project and it is finely done . Will share it with all of you who have res temp issues in DWC. It looks easy but believe me it take a whole day to be done.
Lets begin :
1 You will need this Reflex polymer isolation it can be found in you local diy shop. I used 10m of it
2 You will need mylar, thik one as it need to be strong
3 Velcro can be found in local diy shop
4 2012-05-11-169.jpgTechni-ice need to order it
52012-05-08-143.jpgAnd master DIY tools, lol, you can do everything with this :o

Take your bucket and place mylar and reflex a round it to see how long should it be, than cut needed peaces. You will need 2 reflex for each bucket. Be aware 2-nd peace should be shorter otherwise you would not be able to join it together. Use staples to join it. Place mylar than first layer of reflex with aluminium side to the milar than 2-nd layer of reflex but with polymer side. Like this is will be polymer to polymer and from external side will be aluminium aluminium.

You will need some scotch as well to make it air-proof (like this it will hold some air between two reflex sheets and will act like 2nd isolation). I used brown but you can do it with silver, it will be more esthetical :p.

Now you need to mesure where exactly you will need to place velcro, for this you will need techni-ice(already frozen and ready for use) place it round the bucket and than reflex you made before.

Be aware it should be really tight.

Now annoying part, sew velcro onto reflex.

And it is done!

Techni-ice can be frozen up to (or better say down to) -180c. They claim it can hold cold for 18h, not sure about this. When you will place it for the first time it will lower temp like 2-3 degree, and techni-ice will be defrost. 2-nd time it will last longer as res temp will be lower. Change can be repeated until desired temp is reached (I use it not to drop the temp but to hold it same, lower it first with 5l frozen bottle). In the same time isolation will hold heat from heating the res and mylar will reflect light. Techni-ice can be heated as well for winter.

Hope it will help some one, good luck

Yesterday my res temp was 24, didn't use any frozen bottle from yesterday only my DIY cooler. Grow room temp 25-28. See result1 (2).jpg1 (1).jpg

How much do the ice wraps cost and how long do they take to freeze? I considered this idea while dealing with high res temps. Now I'm using igloo drinking coolers, no temp problems anymore. Just a small frozen water bottle once a day.

Love this idea though, I still have my two black buckets I retired after buying the coolers, maybe ill give one of those a go with the ice wrap

Awesome post,Thanks Komach

In my first post there was a link to http://www.techniice.com website, I think there you can find the price and the information you'll need.
Frozen bottle is fine till it doesn't touch the root zone...

Shoots thanks I didn't see that link. My bottle touches the roots I'm sure, I wonder how detrimental that is..I have noticed though that within a few hours the ice has melted in the bottle so all g I hope.

When it touch it can shock or even kill the root (not sure about that last)
