Mephisto Genetics do you ever defoliate dominant cola fans?

I want to keep RH up during flower actually. But going to have a lot of fan power as well.

Tent is in a garage. I have a humidifier in the tent because its an arid climate here and I am keen to keep RH and temp in a VPD sweet spot. And I have a dehumidifier in the garage to reduce the moisture of the structure of the garage. I exhaust the tent air right back in the garage instead of outside because I don't want to waste the heat i created in the tent in the winter. In doing that the moist air from the tent goes in the garage which is bad. And the water collected by the dehumidifier goes right back in the humidifier. Its a nice closed loop system of water that I reuse over and over. I empty the dehumid bucket in the morning and dump that water back in the humidifier.

Also have an RO filter for my plant water source.

Holding it in the VPD sweet spot is a good idea!
Personally I‘ve always plants in different stages of life in my tent and I noticed, that my ladies grow very well in the range of 40-50% RH .. temperature 25-28 C (77-83 F), when lights out in the low twenties. I didn‘t experience a benefit holding the RH higher ... I can’t swear by it but I have the impression that this environment provides even a better growth during vegetative stage and preflower than holding the RH high ... maybe during the first or additionally second week of life, a higher RH could be an improvement ... but these are only my personal thoughts about it.

I live in a more humid and probably colder zone than you and a dehumidifier is a must. It also helps to rise temperature during the colder season and the collected water is as good as RO water. A great way to save resources .. these days the plants in my tent need more or less 4 l of water daily, 3 l out of the dehumidifier!

Gringuito,

You and I garden by similar principles. I can tell.

I would caution you though on using water from your dehumidifier. Look it up. Not 100% sure if it is caused by a cheap dehumidifier or by a chemical reaction across the copper or aluminum coils. I did this research long ago so it might be dated.

I did a quick search I see some say it's okay for plants and others say no. Says definitely not for human consumption.

Lunarman,

I would not recommend super cropping unless you run a lot of plants. Super cropping from my experience gives you very consistent buds but lowers overall yield for most plants. I said most not all. Some plants like xmas tree style plants that really only produce up the center would see a reduction in yield of 80% range.

As an overall advice, unless you know something about a girl because you've experienced her in your environment multiple times, don't introduce unnecessary stress. The only stress I find necessary with a Mephisto lady is a prune. Most just need one prune right around day 30. Some of the big ones need another touch up 10 days later.

What you wrote is absolutely correct. I wasn’t precise, sorry for that.

The water out of the dehumidifier is more like destilled water, not RO water, so the human consumption wouldn‘t be a good idea. Thank you for setting the record straight.

I think there are 2 different aspects:

1. The use of destilled water...... There are a lot of very good growers doing it, others would never use it.
2. How was the destilled water made? ... Again it‘s absolutely right what you are saying about the possible
chemical reactions. I was aware of it and bought a good one. That was more than one year ago and my
ladies love it .. absolutely no problems.

Thank you @Statgator for providing important information!

Cheers

Wise words.

There is a low risk option to figure it out. Try it on one of the branches .. not the main! You can compare it with the other branches of the same plant and take your conclusions regarding the next run of this strain.
I use super cropping only as an last option when plants are getting too big and too close to the lights.

I know lots of folks that are successful using city water, well water, bubbled water, guys who are ionizing water with magnets, people who only feed bacterial and fungal teas. That said I seek as much control over my microbial world as possible. So I use RO water and just add back a baseline amount of calcium and magnesium.

If yours is working for you that long it likely means all is well.

Safe growing to all

I’ll give u the quick answer follow your gut and cut. As soon as something in u says cut do it. It’s the fear of harming that says no but once u do you’ll see why. I don’t do much last but I do tons of leaf manipulations pony-tailing, leaf tucking and plucking. Orange diesel grows some Huge fat fans pluck what’s needed she won’t feel a thing

Totally agree about getting over the fear of hurting her with lst etc. I’m hooked now. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out.

@lunarman...good luck man! And thanks for asking some great questions.

Another vote for the heavy defoliation around day 30 and another lighter one around day 40. Heavy clearing of inner small aint gonna do shit nodes around day 30-35 as well.
