thanks rivalFish, lots of useful things to think about!
I've got them on some thing called bloombastic since the last week ish, guy at the lhs said its good for maximising the buds, picked it up with the aqua flora feed but didn't start using at the same time. Probably my timing with the feed changes and strength of feed could have been better, room to improve next time!!
I tried to do the maths early on, and seeing as I was late to enter / start , I though better to have plants in the 60-70 day flowering times, so have a chance to finish in time. Looks like most folks just went with what they had lying around or didn't think that far ahead anyway! Maybe because I didn't have a clue to start with I might have made a more researched plan I dunno.
On the comp I reckon really rules are rules and should not be changed, in the DARPA challenge none of the robots made it first year... they didn't just pick the end line up and move it behind 50% of the broken robots

But this aint DARPA challenge and after my initial yikes, what the hell, doesn't really matter it will be fun to drag it out another week before I have a void in my life to fill !
Next grow I will do something a little bigger. 32oz was nice intro and glad Im doing it this way, but I think these same plants can yield a lot more in bigger pots etc. Airpots also interesting I remember folks discussing them early in the comp.
I think there was someone using an airpot in parallel just to see the difference it makes, though I forget who.
I definitely want to try and water culture stuff and grow just one or two huge mamma's if I can. But getting there will take some time, im in no rush so probably realistically I will have another go in soil before then, larger pots, airpots sounds good.
hmm : air stone bubbler to help oxygenate the feed : interesting idea. Yes it should work why not. That's not a bad idea at all! Is it something you are doing or tried and noted an improvement?
With the DWC stuff, Im planning a dissolved oxygen sensor in the tub. That way I can bring the water close to saturated and boost it back there when it reduces .... as well as measure how fast the plant is using it up. Still, im also a fan of simple things that work also , and your plan sounds useful!
AKR, I'll be looking forward to more so now, just wish it was twice the height
