got busy sorting out my turntables idea today. I had ordered two of these display turntables with mirror top finish. Battery operated, I'll see how they go on lifetime otherwise rig them to a mains adapter.
The idea is to set all 5 plants spinning on them for now, as the plants get further down the line and larger, I will select the best plants and reduce the turntable load until I have just two contenders, one on each turntable. The goal is to get a good light coverage without going mental on lighting and power consumption.
I built a couple of bases to seat the pots on, one with two positions , the other with 3 positions.
So these now sit on top of the two turntables and seat the pots ;
I added a 6400K 30W CFL that I have seen others using with good results. All the plants are now rotating past the CFL as well as between the LED beams from above.
So far the power draw is only 125W. The CFL is 30W and the Helios is 190W , but Im only using half its clusters right now (it has two switches so you don't need to have all on). Half the Helios runs with 95W plus the CFL , 125W , pretty good I think.
Later when I switch the entire Helios on , it will be 220W total lighting draw.
I might just add another CFL or two to improve side-lighting (as well as those LED tubes for under lighting) but again since the comp plants will rotate, I don't need so many, maybe just one or two. Lets see.
Looks pretty funky, I will upload a vid soon.
