I have a double grape that’s gettin very close to her due date and she isn’t really smelling like grapes much. How did your guys double grapes smell? The few people who have smelled have said citrus or lemons, which is okay with me because I love citrusy lemony weed. Just got me thinkin with a name like “double grape” seems like it would be smelling like straight grapes lol. Anyways what’s been your experience with the smell of the double grape? She sure is a beautiful frost queen of a plant though.

At this stage of autos, no two auto plants will be the the same. There are definitely grape phenos in the line, but not all plants will have that grape smell/ flavor. Specific straights like flavor and final smell are hard to lock down in autos.. The name is due to both parents having grape in their lineage, and that's what gives you a good chance at getting a grape pheno.

I get both the parents have grape names, just seems like with the name double grape would smell more like grape I guess. I strongly disagree with you about locking those traits in autos though. Daiquiri lime by Dutch passion is called that for a reason, and if you ever grow one you’ll know what I’m talking about, smells distinctly of strong limes. I’ve grown a few Cinderella jacks and they all come out pretty identical. The taste, the size of the plant, the way the buds look, is all the same every time. A lot of Mephistos newer strains just aren’t as developed and at say an F1 were gona see more variations.

Lol.. The parents have more than just grape names.. Grape is in the "lineage" of both parents. And fact is, there is no such thing as identical in the world of autos. Similar, yes.. Same, no.. Also "lime" or citrus, is one of the most common terp profiles in all of cannabis.. Lime/citrus is as common as a cell phone. So naming a strain "fill in the blank" lime, and saying that every plant smells or tastes like lime isn't saying much.. Specific flavors on the other hand, grape, coffee, rootbeer, etc are hard to lock down in an auto. Keep in mind that when breeding autos, there is no way to smoke or test the flowers of the mother plants before they are pollinated.. So breeders don't know what the mother tastes like until after it's seeded and harvested. You can only select a plant to pollinate based on what you see and smell, and then hope for the best. Grape Stomper Og, the mom of sour stomper, is one of the most grape dominate tasting and smelling strains in the photo period world, and was found and hunted by one of the most respected breeders to ever hunt strains. So again, the grape smell and taste is in the "lineage" of couple grape.. It will show up... but how often that pheno shows up, to me, is unknown. Could be 1 in 4.. Could be higher.

Lol No shit it’s more than in the names and I’m well aware of what the parents are. But why in the hell do you think he named the strain “GRAPEstomper og”? Cuz he thought it smells like strawberries? I don’t think so. All I was wondering is if others “double grape” actually smelled like grape...like the parent strains do. I’ve had platinum grape that smelled like grape, blueberry that smelled like blueberry, daiquiri lime that smelled like lime, strawberry cough that smelled like berry, etc. while my double grape smells like lemon pine sol lol.

I don’t recall anybody with a really grapey pheno. Good bud though.
I think it was originally an F1 release and with two grape parents the name double grape made sense not sure what they woulda called it if they grew a bunch and smoked them first. A lot of the F1 illuminauto releases arent tested other then for germination rates.
Seems like they would have had some real grapey traits with the all the grape in its lineage. Wild none of em were very grapey! It sure does look like some quality bud tho none the less.

I've got 3 going right now. The one in the front row of my tent that I have easy access to for smelling smells like straight grapes. The other 2 in the back row of my tent are a slightly different pheno, I'll have to smell them today and see.

I have a Double Grape that smells like Grape. Its been in jars for 3 months and still smells and tastes like grape. I will say this though. The Sour Stomper I grew has more and a better grape smell than Double Grape, and its been in jars for over a year. . I grew a Grapey Walter that is pretty grapey as well, but still not as much grape as SS. I grew Grape Walker Kush also, that has more Grape smell / taste than Double Grape as well.
hth
cheers

How was that grapey walter? I heard it’s some pretty powerful stuff, wish I could find a few of those beans. My sour stomper is the same way, smells strongly of grapes and berries compared to the double grape. My forgotten cookies turned out smelling very berry with just a hint of the cookies smell...so damn good. Maybe a SS dominant pheno from that bean?

Got any pics of the ladies? How far along are they?
