I recently went and purchased one of these fairly expensive dust mushrooms for my new room. It's the 6" version and I think I paid just under 100 dollars for it. I havents seen or heard of any reviews on the product so I figured I would toss one up on here.
I live in an area where there is tons of visible pollen always blowing around in the air. along with not much rain, we also have lots of dust blowing around. Between the pollen and dust, my house needs dusting almost every day.
Last year I ran a straight 6" duct from a window, directly into my grow room and this allowed all of the pollen and dust to enter my room and dirty up the glass on my hoods. It got so bad at one point last season I could see the pollen on the fan leaves.
With my new room, I now have this Dust Mushroom on my intake line from outside and it has done an amazing job at keeping dust and pollen out! My hoods are clean so far 2 months, with lots of pollen outside. My intake is strong also, a 430cfm inline fan and the dust mushroom holds strong and does exactly what it's ment to do.
It comes pre-soaked in a green oil (seems like the same stuff used for motor intakes) and it says it will not need to be recharged for an entire grow season, so we will see when I need to do that. It's basically an oversized UNI air filter used for all motor sports.
