Dont listen to me. I only like to give advice to my close friends, so that way they wont be too mad at me if their garden gets messed up lol.

Ebb and Flow is my go to though. My first grow I did a 4x4 flood table just filled with hydroton pebbles. That was interesting to say the least.
Than I tried fabric pots, than i ran out of head room and moved to a 2 pump system so I could put my reservoir out side my tent, keeping it cooler and giving like an extra foot and half of space. Then I did air pots. After messing around and building my own for so long I finally just bought a complete modular system. (I only run 6 sites)

Looking at your pics of your table, I can tell you might run into a lot of algae growth. Which you can either get in there and scrub it down from time to time or just cover it with something (6 mil plastic or I used poster board) or leave it be, it wont hurt to much if it doesn't get to bad. It might steal some oxygen from your water.

I don't use anything to prevent root rot, never had to deal with it, but I do clean out my system once a week. When I clean I use -

Amazon product ASIN B0057FQL88
Its basically a 7% H2O2 cleaner and very affordable. (Compare its cost to a gallon of 3% or even the food grade 34%) which are too weak or too strong in my opinion. But honestly, you will know best good sir. Just like you said, watch the girls, they will tell you. Happy Growing!

From that top down shot, your plants look fine. All growing plants look like that, kinda yellow in the middle, that's how new growth looks at first. I would up the flood time to 15 minutes so that you can be sure your pots have wicked enough solution, your medium should be moist at the top or to at least an inch down from the top.

The top of the soil is what I would call damp ( more than wet ).
I'll up the flood time to 10 minutes first and keep you posted..

Given the root depth as seedlings.
I'm also considering an occasional top feed to supplement the wicking effect.
