Had an idea based on a few things Ive seen guys do. Did this in no time, when I got home, set it up in 60 sec. Works flawless!

Fan = $28
filter = $26
PVC elbow = $3
PVC pivoting "fan mount" = $4
Charcoal from hydro ponies store = $70

$131(CDN) which sucks cause Im sure I could have found cheaper activated charcoal. but all pet stores where out and the hydro store is a bit expensive. Either way I did it improve, fast as shit, and it does the job I need it to do like right... meow.

I have seen filter + inline for as cheap as $129(US) on amazon, but I am pleased as hell with this, as it it is flawless, also did I mention the fan mount is on a pivoting piece? The filter can pivot anywhere I choose, keeping it out of the lights or what ever may become in the way. +++

plus it just fucking looks nice.

* the filter is larger than it looks, it holds five pounds of charcoal. The fan is 95/105 CFM * /edit

Love to see ingenuity and creativity bro! Here's a :slap: and a thank you for sharing your filter with us! What size grow space/cab do you have this running in?

Im running it in a 7.776 SF tent. It's a little bigger than it looks, 4" pipe and fan, filter holds 5 pounds of charcoal.

I got the rep slaps, but my rep isn't up :(

Where did you find the "fan mount"? I have a similar setup and was looking for something better to mount my fan to. Also I added a "pre" filter to mine.
If you get one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Web-Absorber-20-in-x-25-in-x-1-in-Odor-Control-FPR-5-Air-Filter-WABSORBFPR/100011568
You can get rid of the plastic screen, cut the filter material to fit and wrap it around your filter. I don't know if it really does anything but I don't think it hurts.

Hey bro, you should just about always use a pre-filter on carbon scrubbers of this nature. The purpose of the pre-filter is to catch larger micron particles before they can enter the chamber of the scrubber and coat the carbon. Dust, dirt, and other large particles tend to cover and coat the activated carbon, rendering it less effective. If you don't use a pre-filter, you're shortening the life of your carbon.

The pre-filter should be mounted either on the outside of the scrubber if you are drawing air up and through the scrubber (which is the most effective way to draw air,) or if you are pushing air into the filter (I don't recommend this but to each their own,) you can make an internal pre-filter which is basically a cylinder that you stick into the cylindrical opening of the filter (provided yours is open like that.) As the air blows into the filter, it hits the pre-filter first, blocking out the larger particles and letting the small, odor causing molecules through to reach the activated carbon.

Hope that clarifies bro! :karma Cloud: :wiggle:

well the problem is using an "odour absorber" such as the one you mentioned can adversely affect your plants aroma properties and i think may cause other problems that i can't recall at the moment. The fram filter I am using is a pretty decent pre filter and i can't see why I'd use anything else on top of it. The only thing I could think of adding in is a cover that surrounds the filter but leaves a >1" gap around it to force air to be drawn through the carbon evenly.

I got the "fan mount" at can tire. It's a 360 degree pivoting pvc piece for a toilet or something. I just went and took a look at all the bits and pieces until they just naturally put them selves together in my minds eye.

Im running a UV filter / -ionizer in the room as well.
