That would work or just wrap some fiberglass house insulation around it.
If you can suspend it with bungee cords too that helps. I saw some site where they put the fan in a cardboard box, mounted the ducting on either side and had a bungee coming out of the top. then they filled the box with spray foam. It seemed to work but might overheat your fan?
