I have been wandering around online looking for ideas for air filtration. I have used the Air King BFQ-90 and some chinese inline fans. This tent is 2.6 x 2.6 x 5. I went to the hydro shop a couple weeks ago and picked up a 4 x 12 phat filter and when i got home it was a 6 x 12 :no: i called the hydro guy back and he said there was going to be a $25 restock fee wtf :no: So i am just gonna use a reducer and get a 4" or just buy a 6" and have some overkill. I have been checking out the S&P TD Silent Series but am torn between if i should go with the 4 or 6. I am also interested in the panasonic whisperline and the sunleaves windtunnel, i believe they are both cheaper. Silence is definately at the top of the list. I will be using a closet next to an area well people to hang or pass through. Some advice would be great. I will be using an LED. Just so torn on equipment, wish i could just trial everything:Cool:

Even a 4" fan in a tent that size running LEDs is a bit of overkill. I'd probably go with a 4" just because it's smaller in size. Whichever you decide, do as Jackal recommended and put a variable speed controller on it. I'm running a 4" Phat and 4" inline and I dial it way down. Really cuts the noise and still filters out all the odor, even at the lowered CFM. Of the in lines I've used, the Vortex are the quietest. If you've got the money and are handy with wiring, get one of these. Does a good job of maintaining a constant temperature by slowing or speeding the fan as needed. http://www.qcsupply.com/commercial-...mount-variable-speed-controller-110-volt.html

Take a look on ebay. There is a seller selling cann brand fans, great brand, with a built in thermostat. I got my 4" for about $70. It keeps a nice neg pressure in my 3'x2' tent and is quieter than my desktop pc when the closet is closed. Search for can fan rs, it is there for $70+shipping.

thx for the input. i was definately overthinking the subject but it was bc some fans are damn expensive. I had a air king bfq 90 in my 2x4 and 2x2. they worked fine and im not sure how much cfm they could pull thru or push thru the CF but it worked. been watching to much WeeDs on tv and grow ops on youtube makes me wanna be all top notch with the equipment lolz americans

Hi akito, I believe its hard to find a reasonable fan for use in a small tent using leds!
I have tried building my own using pc fans but found out they weren't strong enough to create enough pressure( I will try this again another time :X's Evil Laugh x: )
I have bought also a cheap fan to put in a tube from 125MM but that too made my crazy( didnt trust the little fan :hot: and found it to loud )

Now I have a fan with speed en temp controller, the device itself is from good quality, but like most fans its to big for a small tent.
At 10 % of the speed it has more than enough suction in my tent, but the integrated controller makes some humming noise if you put it below 50%.

So still not perfect, I would love to find a reasonable priced low flow silent fan, but it seems like the market hasn't found the hole yet!

I'm going to do ventilation according to this link:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=112862

Basically you want 1 air change per 5 minute in your tent, this is how much plants preferred. Max. would be 1 air change per 1 minute but that would already be overkill stressing the plants.

So how to calculate cfm ?

volume * 12 / 60 = CFM
yours: 33,8 *12 / 60 = 6, 76 CFM -> and this would give 1 air change per 5 minuts for your tent

But be aware this is without taking heating from light into consideration ! So what about lights ?

If there is no cool tube just lamp reflector:
CFM = 3.16*(Total Watts)/deltaT
where deltaT = 10 *F

example: 3,16 * 250 / 10 = 79 CMF of cooling for a 10F temp rise above room temperature for 250w.

If there would be cool tube:
CFM = 3.16*(Total Watts)/deltaT
where deltaT = 20 to 30 for cooltube -> notice that deltaT changes

Best thing to do would be to separate ventilation for cooling the lights and venting the tent.

I'm not shure where does 3,16 come from and it is used for 3x3x4 tent but for small tents should do it.

Gotta go with Muddy on this!! 4" reducer with a 4" line and a 4" fan with a speed bully on it!! I have a 4x4 tent with a 4x12 Phresh filter with 4" line and 4" fan and I seldom have to turn the speed up on it. Creates the right pressure in the tent, heat is not an issue with dual LEDs(520 total watts) and it does a great job for me. Give you a little tip....put the filter on the floor and it wont get as much humidity/condensation in it, and it last a bit longer. Plus with Led, you can regulate your temps a bit better. If you put it up top, it pulls all the heat out of the tent too!!

I use a 4" MountainAir with Chinese inline fan and variable speed controller. Works a treat! I run a 400W HPS with 80W of supplemental LED.
